If I where you I'd want atleast a 1/4th of that money back, seeing as 1/4th of what you paid for was unusable.

What kind of pressing bills does a 17 year old have?

lol, it's not like his truck is sitting on blocks until he can afford new tires, he obviously got together enough cash to buy new tires, which I'm sure were more than the $350 he sold these for.

OP. Give him a month, then get a full refund, he does seem to have a shitty attitude, but he did agree to swap back didn't he?

I think he will, he obviously needs an attitude adjustment though, so you might just have to be super nice and ask lots haha

I've read through all the post OP and if I were in your shoes I'd be doin the exact same thing. I think your best bet is to keep bugging him (nicely) and give him the opportunity to make it right. He may have missed the nail, but as the seller it was HIS responsibility to make sure his product was as described. And as for all the people moaning about creating a 'rant' thread, no one forced you to read it. You knew what it was by the title so I'm uncertain why it seems important to you to bash the OP for lettin off some steam on a 350 dollar loss. Just my .02

I've been fucked on TW before (I've been, me)...and never, have I made a rant thread (I've never made one, me)...i just suck it up (I suck it up, me). Tires....well now tires are something I would never buy used. (I would never buy used tires, me)

if I was bashing it would read like this:

Everyone gets fucked in TW! Why the hell do you rant about it on a thread? Just suck it up bro...and why the hell are you buying used tires anyway?

Hope you get what you want OP. (I really hope he gets what he wants...no one deserves to be fucked, and if he thinks he's doing the right thing, good. $350 for something not as decribed sucks...)

Someone has a guilty conscience, I didn't mention any names. You're right, the way you wrote your response leaves you guilt free. I don't see how you can write that though and not hear how high your horse is. When have you ever heard the phrase 'I would NEVER do that' in a tone that's anything but derogatory? You and I might have different ideas of bashing, but I still think you were kinda rude, that's all. Not saying you have to be perfectly polite all the time either but there's no reason to make the OP feel bad for getting ripped off.

Cant you plug it and be done with it. If it was a nail it's not that big of a hole. Autozone plug kit 8.99 part number 1034. problem solved

He said couldn't be patched. A plug can fix lots of things a patch can't. Most tire shops won't do plugs cause they want you to buy a new tire, cuz like that's what they do, sell tires. Know what I mean? But you can buy them yourself and do it in like 5 mins, it's easy.

No I got good tires thanks :) and you can plug a hole in the sidewall, that's why plugs are great, can save you from buying a new tire :)

Thanks Benbacher, but markmatters has the right to express himself. I knew that some people will disagree when I started this thread.

TW is a nice comunity, I see that everytime a fellow member is in trouble and I'm very proud to be part of it. And this site is suppost to help fellow members, not screw them. If the guy doesn't do the right thing. I'll make sure to post his name, so YOU don't get screw AGAiN in the event that you purchase something from him.

For those who ask about plug and patchs. All thos started because i have my 2 back tires with nails almost in the sidewall.
I went to a big tire shop and they said that it couldn't be fixed. Also took them to a latino shop, and they said that it could work or not, we just have to try.
I have a 6 year old, i don't eant to end on the side of the road with 2 blown tires.

Plugs were used when the dinosaurs roamed the earth....when a vehicle's top speed was 35 mph...I WOULDN'T PLUG A TIRE, (there goes the bashing right ben?) then drive it on the highway at 70-75 mph..and well if things go sour, we then start a thread of what a douche he is and then have members become cops and start looking for the guy...hah...everyone gets their laughs and the dude is no longer respected and good luck to him selling another item here..

and i wasnt disagreeing with ya man...it's just when it was done to me...i just didn't want to bother with it...get in an argument with the dude...and who's right and wrong...and pay to mail it back...and all that stuff...you're at a driving distance of each other...makes this kind of thing a lot easier...

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Nothing wrong with plugging a tire. I had 8 plugs in the same hole on a 255/85-16 that picked up a railroad spike. I wheeled with the plugs in and drove over 65 mph without them ever leaking.

Op, you bought used tires from a 17 year old kid who cant afford his car payment. When you met him you should have inspected every tire meticulously before you forked over cash, personally I see you being at fault there.

Sounds like you got squared away on your seat covers.

And a muffler for 50 bucks that was welded on seems like a waste of money.

Moral of the story, quit buying used parts, because you apparently expect them to look and perform as if they were brand new, so just buy new and you wont have to go through the extra effort to get a good deal.

Sounds right to me ..... You should have inspected - if not its on you .....

I completely agree with being a man of your word ........... most people are not though and that Is why you have to do your due dilgence and you should have inspected them and possibly met at a tire shop to have them checked out before purchase.

He seemed more than generous offering you the $50.00 back -- because as everyone knows when you buy used its an "AS IS " deal.

    My experience...my 2 cents.

Why are you fighting with me? Lol
