Bad jumping

Hey guys, my trucks been hopping around a bit every time i hit a good sized bump or pothole it's getting bad, feels like I momentarily lose control of the front end, it's not death wobble but it just feel loose, everything else in the front is tight and seams okay would this just be too much weight on my stock front shocks and coils? I have a bumper full skids and a winch, I should be getting new suspension within the month and I'm hoping it will fix it? Thanks!

That's what I'm wondering there just the stock yellow bilsteins with stock coils and spacers, do you think all new front suspension will solve it? Is there anyway to check shocks without removing them?

 

Bounce the corner by hand. If it bounces more than three times they are bad. But given their age (you said stock) I'd replace them.

 

I assume there stock I doubt the po ever replaced them, you mean just push down on the one side and release it? Or kind of bounce it around

I get this too. I also need new front shock soon.

 

Look for oil weeping around the outside of the strut (struts front, shocks rear).

I'm pretty sure your struts are gone. The extra weight plus rough roads will make them fail faster.

 

It's freaking scary man, it makes it miserable to drive my truck I just get pissed off haha

I would say it is wore out STRUTS. There are only struts in the front of our Tacoma's and only shocks in the rear.

Yes, replace your struts. They are an item that goes bad and needs to be replaced periodicly, just like brakes.

You will be amazed at how well the truck will ride. Struts can go bad slowly and you don't even realize they are shot because you would get used to the ride as they fail.

Report back after you get them changed.

I have the same issue. My shocks are worn and my right upper ball joint is bad. Check your ball joints. If there is any grease deposits on or around them, the boot is leaking.

 

Alright, thanks for the tips guys, I'm getting the full ome replacement hopefully by next month and I'll let you know if it fixes it

 

i would check the shocks for leaking, etc. as has been mentioned as well as get an alignment and talk to the tech about bump-steer issues.

 

Ya I'll get the alignment after the lift gets installed.

 

You might also consider a heavier than stock spring rate for your front coils because of your winch,skids and bumper.
