Bad Leaf springs?

Just got a 2011 Tacoma SR5 Double Cab 4x4 with only 28k miles, and it's most likely been kept in the garage because I just had to replace the stock tires on it!
I looked at the leaf springs and I'm curious if thats how their supposed to look?

Stock leafs are not great on these trucks .Depending on what you plan to do with the truck there are a lot of suspension choices . Good luck with the truck and welcome to TW

 

At the moment I'm not going out off-roading and I'm just using it as my daily driver.
I live in rural West-Southern Ohio so roads are winding so I just want something that's a little better than stock for decreasing body roll and increasing stiffness.

 

I have near 3” lift on my 2008 . I went with a Dakar leaf pack . Unless your lifting the front also maybe just an add a leaf for now .

 

I eventually would like to install an ARB deluxe bumper, so I was thinking about getting the OME mt64 kit down the road.

 

If they look clapped out and flat..... Well that's how they all pretty much look.

If you want to stiffen them up a little get single add a leafs. I can't recommend a brand, they all seem about the same to me. If you want a step up from that look for the 3 leaf add a leafs. Then finally there is replacing the entire leaf pack. I got a set of the Icon RTXs. Excellent reviews and they are working out great for me. The RTX come with 2 extra leaves so the set can be built 3 ways. I went with the 2nd as I wanted about a 2" lift. Recently I added a wedge camper and am considering adding the 3rd leaf.

Plenty of info here on TW, do some searches, lots of reading, it comes down to you deciding what you want/need for your set-up.

I just got my mt64 kit installed and could not be happier. Havent gotten them offroad yet but they are amazing. These handle more load than the taco should ever have in the bed. fairly stiff ride
on my 05, the HD springs give about 3/4" of lift compared to the oem springs.
there are some non HD ones as well.

In the reviews someone said these lifted their truck up by 3”. But they don’t look like they would lift it that much…

 

The factory leaves are flat at stock weight when installed. Can't tell if those are a bit bowed up in the center or if it's the angle of the photos.

Looks like a gnarly amount of rust on that thing for only having 28k miles though.

 

Maybe they had the really shit saggyass weak early model worn out springs?

your springs look pretty flat, so in comparison, maybe it would lift it 3" from its saggy worn out position?

my factory leafs were not worn out yet or sagging, but they sure were pathetic with anything in the bed.

Check with the website and see if you can remove the bottom leaf from the HD pack. It appears as the same standard pack from them, with an extra leaf to make it HD. but i am not sure.

 

Yea, it’s pretty rusty tbh. The original owner probably didn’t wash it in the winter. I live Ohio so we have a good amount of salt on the roads in the winter.
Not sure what to do about all the rust though

 

Forget add-a-leafs, Dakars, Icons, or even OME leafs. Word on the street is they all tend to sag out within a few years after install.

Get Deaver U402s in the Stage (weight capacity) of your choice and be done with it. (Stage I, II, or III.)

Buy once, cry once.

 

General and Alcan springs from what I understand is the way to go. A couple years ago I put barely used 3rd Gen Tacoma rear springs on with Sumosprings (Blue) and 5100s, it rides a lot better, but if I could do it again, I’d put GS or Alcans on and the Sumosprings wouldn’t permanently be on the truck frame, except under a loaded bed.
