One thing to consider is shops/dealers rarely (in my experience) clean their or the mess from the leaks and repairs. So residual oil leaks can still leave the impression there is a leak. I've gone behind them and with brake clean and such and cleaned up the frame and other areas so I can watch for new or continued leaks.

Perhaps they never did the CPO inspection and are now trying to address what OP found? OP, not many folks have a lift at home, so there is no reasonable expectation that you would see a leak under the truck. Just keep at it. I agree to tread lightly with them, but if they get huffy about your Toyota case, you can nicely point out the wiper fluid and then the power steering fluid.

No oil leaks visualized, but the coolant reservoir is empty so we may have a new leak!

If theres no coolant on the ground and the coolant reservoir is empty... maybe internal leak? head gasket or something? coolant getting into the oil?

Well unfortunately now we know why the last guy dumped the truck. Thankfully you seem to have a decent warranty to get it sorted. Hopefully the dealer isn’t too pissed about your open case with corp.

Speaking of ? What did they say/do?

    My options here are
    1. They didn't bleed the air out and it's just settling, given the time and amount this is honestly the most likely
    2. Coolant pipe on rear of motor, nothing on the ground that I can see and those are typically a slow drip
    3. Least likely is that head gasket, checking the oil at the moment

Never seen that before. Looks like water vapor deposits to me though.

At this point I'd show that to the GM and convince them that it would cost them less money if they just bought the damn thing back. Maybe even schedule a meeting where they drain the oil in a place where all of you can watch.

Me personally it appears to be rust, which I mean I've seen it in the cooling system even to some degree on the engine block if it sits out in the open for a while... but then again, this is the oil filler neck and the truck was driven up until I bought it based off service records

Not saying it's okay but clarification on what it looks like. Never actually had rust there on my past vehicles

Rust on the bottom of the oil cap indicates water to me. Whether condensation or coolant, water with dissolved iron will vaporize when the engine is hot, meet the bottom of the oil cap, and deposit whatever was in solution. That much rust deposit indicates that you have a lot of water in your oil pan, more than what can be explained by simple condensation.

I'm just going by what makes sense, since oil vapor doesn't carry as much solubles.

This is not great news but makes sense as to why it's there. The oil on the stick is pretty clear but not behaving like water thankfully

there is a coolant hose on the back of the engine, connecting the heads. That may be where the leak is, it is hard to see.

Yeah I grabbed a scope to look back there. Definitely hard to see, it's tough since it's been raining here but there was a little dampness

Truck was returned to dealer for further service.

Cooling system held 17psi and appears fine but was not burped like they said it was. Orange residue is most likely from colder climates but they are cleaning and having me keep an eye on it once I get the truck back.

During one of their inspections they found it was once again leaking from the same spot

I’ve used ‘Irontite Coolant Stop Leak’ before and the colour and residue kinda looks like that stuff. Hopefully some idiot at the dealer didn’t try using it for your oil leak....

Yeah it's something that'll probably require a bit more monitoring. Clean it and check it during these warmer months
