    I know it's old. It just annoys me when someone starts a tread about a problem, solves the problem, and doesn't update their thread. I'm sure I'm guilty of doing the same, but just thought I'd ask the OP for an update for me and anyone else who comes along later.

    FWIW, I found the bearing and race driver tool to be useless. I think I just used the flat side of a bigger socket. There wasn't enough room to strike the rod end of the race driver and the smallest one was just a hair too big to fit inside the bushing properly.

    I’ve installed probably 4-5 with the smallest one and it works perfectly. I just use the handle of my jack or a piece of pipe so I can essentially extend the handle, and get a good swing on it.

    My experience with the small one. Any impact would just get it stuck in there... unless you are using the backside.

    no update :/ I think I'm having the same issue with my 03 by the description of it.. Is the sound a pretty deep groaning/vibrating? Almost sounds like a tire is rubbing? The sound I hear is too low to capture audio.

    Yes it’s a deep groaning vibrating sound that is very noticeable thru the floorboard typically heard between 40-50 mph. If the sound goes away when in 4x4 it’s definitely the bearing.

    The bearing def cured the noise. I explained the procedure to the shop I go to. They had no prob installing the bearing. Only took em a couple hours.

    I have my Taco going to the shop in 2 weeks to do the work. My vibration is pretty gnarly and is alive at all speeds. I took my truck to ToyTec, they pointed to the bushing as the culprit after checking the drive train angles and test driving the truck.

    Why not lower the differential to even out the CV axles. Wouldn't this help take the "load" from the needle bearing?

    I had the bushing installed yesterday. The vibrations are gone. Yay.

    Worked with the dealership directly (Wilsonville Toyota), who came through (again). Best dealership I've ever dealt with, including BMW and Acura. Dealer replaced the stock needle bearing with the ECGS bushing. The noise is gone. It was covered under warranty (dealer did the 3" ProComp lift before I brought the truck home in 2018). Excellent customer service from the service department by both Sebastian and Don. Total props guys. Thank you again. Loyal customer for life. This is why we buy Toyota.

    Its an option, though not as good of one.

    From what I've read, the needle bearing will make the same noise/vibration over time so you are just delaying the inevitable.

    If I remember correctly, you can't actually drop the differential straight down because part of the frame crossmember is directly below part of it.
