When I started this thread I just "disliked" my a&&hole neighbor, now I completely and totally HATE the dick. Since starting this thread I've set up about 150 ft of 8ft privacy fence between my yard and his, it's all completely on my side of the property line by about 6 inches so he can't even claim partial ownership. The whole point of the fence is so I can forget he's there but he seems bent on making himself visible. He and his wife will fu&k around right on the edge of the line and play the most god-awful saxaphone/easy listening/kenny G typ crap all day on the weekends.

That I could still deal with, but this guy also called the town inspector complaining about my fence (inspector came out, looked at it and said it's all good) and just yesterday called animal control and complained that my dogs aren't licensed (they are) and they are barking all day long (they aren't).

Some people just enjoy being dicks.

Not my immediate neighbor but they live around the corner. He parks his gay a$$ Mercedes at the end of his driveway completely blocking the sidewalk in front of his house so people walking and kids riding their bikes have to go on the road to get around it. His kid who I think is in middle school is a huge brat constantly swearing at the top of his lungs with his friends. I walked past his house one day with my dog, and he asked me (very rudely) to keep her off his grass. I now let her shit all over it and leave it... she's 85 lbs and takes some pretty monster sh1ts too.

    Man that sucks!

I've been really lucky with our neighborhood. We moved in when it was just being started and we were the 4th house built out of 45. All of our neighbors are great (so far). Everyone knows each others name and helps each other out. We had a tornado come through in 2008 and tore up a few houses. We stayed up all night helping our neighbors salvage property and finding them places to stay in the mean time.

The only issue that we have had is our neighbors dog that likes to bark all night long (started recently). We know them very well and my wife is very good friends with his wife. I reluctantly went over the other night and asked if there was some way we could get the dog to not bark right by our bedroom window. He was super apologetic and we haven't heard a sound from the dog since.

It's a roll of the dice with who you live around. We just got lucky so far.

It certainly is luck of the draw sometimes with neighbors. I have had good ones, great one, and Hell-fire ones. My best GROUP of neighbors was in my house in Florida. We lived in a cul-de-sac of about 10 or 12 houses. Everyone kinda just kept our eyes out for each other. Neighbor would help neighbor with outside chores or landscaping, as well as feeding animals for each other when on vacations. It was great there. I had one REALLY awesome neighbor when I had recently moved out on my own. I learned what the term "fuck-buddy" meant from her. Worst I had was one who would party at all hours of the day and night. I really don't see how he could be awake for so many hours. It really sucked because at that time I was working nights, so I depended on other people to be at work so I could sleep. No such luck there. Even on my days off he was playing his music and raising hell til 4am. I could have bought stock in ear-plug companies!

Right now is the best. Our nearest neighbor is about 500 yards away.

All of my neighbors minus one suck. The one immediately left is worthless bum. Since day one she has came over bumming whatever she can. She was helpful one time. She called me at work to tell my garage door was up and asked if I wanted her to close it. Great right? Not so much. Yes she prevented me from being robbed. But decided to help herself to the beer in the fridge in the garage. Not one or 2. That's fine. The whole Fucking case. The neighbors across the street stay to themselves. But I am pretty confident on drug deals. All hours of he night. Cars in and out. But only for 2-5 minutes a time and the cops have been out plently. The ones across to the left. Think they own everything and love to speed through the subdivision at 45-50 with kids out. The one I like has two bratty ass daughters. But he just sent the worst one to military school or the equivalent. He's a great guy. When we got snowed in last year he came over with his Bob cat and cleared my driveway and all down the hill from my house to the main road. I was the only one he cleared lol. He hates the rest too.

I had them. After calling the cops about 10 times for obnoxiously loud music throughout the night on multiple occasions, turns out the guy living there was dealing drugs. Was caught (not because of my call...) and everything seems to have chilled out. I am fine if you want to have a little get together and play music, but when it's 1 AM on a Tuesday, there's a time when you should just shut it down.

Took the words out of my mouth!!

Really though, all my neighbors are great except for the rental in the back of the lot. They are always college kids that party every night of the week. So I always make sure I have have something noisy to do really early in the morning, its good for the hangover headaches. :D

Where we live now would be great (people-wise) except for one house; 4 generations of useless, welfare sucking, crack-headed losers. It's amazing at how much they all suck and have ruined the street for everyone else.

We're building a house in the middle of 10 acres. No more neighbors. No more Jo-Jo's and their bibles waking my son up from his nap. No more road noise. No more light pollution. Come by invitation or get buried in a hole in the woods. 'Murica!

No bad neighbors that I'm aware of and here's why...

    My front yard...

The drive is gated at the road and I see one of my (few) neighbors about twice a year. Ground is cheap in Mississippi...although mowing is a bitch.

Thanks for the compliment but, the rest is quite a statement to make and one I would argue doesn't consider all possible circumstances.

Let me share with you my real life reason for saying that...

I'm a transplant to Mississippi and I came here due to proximity of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. It was the only hospital at the time starting what appeared to be successful clinical trials on my sons rare bone marrow failure disorder. After he was cast off by a "good" hospital "up north". That "up north" hospital was happy to treat him and get paid but, they also insisted that his disease was fatal even though they were going to keep him "comfortable" in his final days.

He's a few years out from a bone marrow transplant and is cured. Unlike cancer his disease is about as likely to recur in him as it is in you or I...about 500 cases a year.

I will say this, southern hospitality (at least for us) is real. I had more and significantly more valuable offers (and people just taking care of stuff without even asking) here in 6 months than I had the entire time up there...

I never thought I would move here either but, I certainly am not sorry I did and the area offered the only option of saving his life...needless to say, I didn't see not moving here as an option for my child.

I would ask how many times, how long and what bad experience you actually had here...???

I live just outside Oxford, Mississippi, it's really a great little town.

Glad to hear you could get some help for your son. One of our soldiers just donated bone marrow. He's having complications from it now unfortunately.

It's not a bad experience, it's the god-awful heat and humidity. I spent a 5 month stint in Alabama, and then did two one month stints in Louisiana in the late summer. So. Friggin'. Hot.

Thank you and I'm sorry your friend is having complications. It's fairly rare but not something I'm unfamiliar with...

As far as the heat AND humidity I know people that feel the same way. Im the opposit, at anything below 55+/- you'll find me with wearing thermals as just one of a few layers of clothing. Although 2013 is proving to be a very cool year for Mississippi and kinda makes me wish I live further south (Marathon Key, FL. would work).

I used to like most if not all our neighbors, they were really friendly and took care of their house, but like most here in Cali they spent way too much money, had interest only loans, and lost their house. So now our neighborhood is completely different and seems to consist mostly of lazy and trashy scumbags.

I used to drive down the street my house is on and feel proud of where I live and now I'm just embarrassed. It just floors me how lazy people are; they don't make any attempt at all to keep things looking nice. Yards all look like shit, two of the homes down my block have the ugliest old ass trailers sitting in the driveway or parked right on the side yard. Feels like I live in the ghetto now and can't wait to pay my house off and move on.

This is illegal here, blocking the sidewalk will get you $550 fine. Bylaw does do something about it. I love it as much as I despise my neighbors.
