2010 DC TRD Sport 4x4 with tow package sets you back $45 000 CDN , which with the exchange rate as it is right now makes it about $ 40 000 US .

Same truck , made in the same plant . We get screwed .

I pay $370 a month @ 4.9% for 60 months...put down $7000 cash and got $4000 trade in. Up til this spring i paid $400 a month, got something else paid off so i pay $500 a month and generally make about 2 extra payments a year, i should have it paid off at least 18 months early.

And to top it off the Vancouver dealers have that no-haggle policy

But it really depends on the exchange rate too. I looked at importing one from the US, but at the time a regular cab from Washington would have cost about the same as an access cab here.

Congrats on your Taco... I did not buy a new vehicle until I was 25yrs old!
Currently paying $130.00 per month on my 07 Dbl Cab TRD Sport. Got it for $23.5K with the $12K on the buy-back from my 99' frame rust Taco plus a well-timed bonus from work I made out like a bandit!
Will most likely pay off the balance in September with another bonus.
Although don't get me wrong - I still pay $442.11 per month for my wife's Nissan Quest.

I just bought my 07 Dble Cad TRD Off Road 4x4, with 39k on the ticker. I paid 21,900 put 5k down on it and owe 16900. I pay 285 a month, for 72 mos. I could have went 60 but when you get 72 for 4.9 it made sense to have a smaller payment and have the ability to make double payments at my leisure. 60 monts was still going to be 4.9%....go figure.

PS....This was first time I ever went 72. I usually like the better rates. This time it made sense.

Bayside and Bowie are owned by the same people. I went to all of the Toyota Dealers from Baltimore to Southern MD before I purchased. Not much in price difference. I purchased at Bayside. Almost impossiable to find a good used certifide Tacoma in MD.

Same here. You can't go wrong with 0% financing...I have never bought a car with any other rate. Most car companies offer it periodically (albeit sometimes only for "loyal customers").

Y'awl are going to be "owned" until you understand that paying interest on a depreciating asset, or a payment scheme that follows the depreciation schedule, is just throwing money down the crapper.

I went through all of that and allowed myself to buy based on payment, get upsold because of it, was upside down for a while, vehicle value following the amount owned, etc, etc, etc. After seeing the light, haven't had an interest bearing car note for over 10 years. So much easier without financing and having a note over your head. Downside is it takes a few years of saving to get yourself in front of the curve so that you can pay upfront.

Wish someone had pushed a no-finance strategy on me much earlier, as it's just throwing away money no matter how you look at. 0% financing may work but that's assuming that the 0% doesn't allow you to get upsold, buy more then you were going to, or buy accessories/warrenties that you normally wouldn't have.

    That's what I think about that.... :)
