DO NOT WELD SHOCKS(or NEAR) EVER >>>>>!!!
Unless you want to kill yourself. Welding generates massive heat that will make them explode

We need to start a poll of who actually just cut the nuts off their rear struts.. I did, thats all I know. And I only tried to actually get them off for about 5 min before I realized it was useless.

Nope, going to the auto store tomorrow or the next day to pick up some nut splitters.

Driving 45mph over rail road tracks with the nut half loose didn't do anything.

I haven't read this whole post, but here's a trick that is simple and effective for getting the top nut off of shocks. I used to do this at the first sign of the shock piston spinning, but it can be done later, even if the nut is badly stripped (ahem).
Put a deepwell socket onto the nut with a long extension bar on the socket.
NOTE that the socket does not need to be the original size, if you have stripped the nut, you may need to hammer a smaller size onto the nut.
Put a ratchet wrench onto the extension bar.
Make sure the socket is as tight as possible on the nut, it's ok to hammer it on there a bit to get it tight.
Now for the trick...using the ratchet only for stability, push or pull the whole extension bar-socket assembly to BEND the shock piston.
You need only to make sure it is bending BELOW the nut and not above it, this is the reason to make sure the socket is firmly hammered onto the nut.
When you have it bent as far as space will allow, bend it back the other way as far as possible.
Repeat this a very few times, and the piston will snap nicely off below the nut.
    Done.

Interesting aproach....What do you do if it breaks under the bottom washer holding the assembly to the frame mount?

    How did I miss this?

Why has this shock not been cut off already?

WHy is Krazie allowed touch tools?

Has MJP2 been brought in for jackstand consultation?

MJP can not be brought in at this stage. Given the "Krazie" timeline, Mike has about 14 more months before this "build" is ready even for jack stands. Krazie is still working on the 1 bolt, on 1 shock. And its been a week. Mike has PLENTY of time to prepare for jack stnd consultation.

Krazie - any update on the nut that won't bust free?

At this point the best bet is probably to split it with the tools you recently acquired. Other than that I have seen a hammer and chisel work when applied at an angle to force the nut to start turning - kinda like a poor man's impact wrench. It is hell on the nut/bolt - but it works. Besides, at this point your wife as to know something is up right?

For some reason, I think he is threatening his truck with a Boner Punch about now....

That was a give-in. I didn't realize it needed to be voiced.

What if my truck is a female. Could explain why it's so finicky to my touch.

maybe you should try threatening the nut. Take a random nut, set it within viewing distance of the stuck one, and beat it with a hammer......
