Is there anyway to make your own maintenance (oil changes) show up on something like carfax? What about reporting it to Toyota for warrantee?

That is why I bought my oil and filters at the dealership. I know it is not the same as having it in their records but as I was a certified Toyota tech and the parts are from there it is a circumstantial case that I changed my own oil with the dealer recommended parts.

Yes, Carfax has a "My Car Maintenance" tab at the top that you can manually enter services that you have done on your car. I took my Mitsubishi in for the airbag recall, and the dealer actually bought me a lifetime membership on Carfax as long as I own the car. I can update all my vehicles on there.

I'd forget Carfax, report it to toyota.com/owners. That's where your dealers report it to, so your records would be complete and in one place.

Just remember unless you specifically request an appt with a Master tech like Scotfree mentioned, the least experienced, least qualified “tech” will be set loose on your truck to do oil changes and tire rotations. I have 2 dealerships near me. One allows specific tech scheduling one does not. Choose wisely.

Also its a good idea to walk around and really look over your truck before and after pickup and drop off. Ive found used rags , a Snap-on trim puller and a small prybar left behind in my engine compartment over the years from sloppy dealerships. Those I keep.

I get mine at the stealership when I'm near one doing other things and buy in quantity to minimize trips. I buy them cheaper at the stealer and they throw in the washers for free. Oh yea, I ask nicely

Update: The Manager ask me to bring my truck back and they would have their master tech re-change the oil and check everything out. The service advisor gave me a card for a free oil change. I saw a small amount of oil on the garage floor the other morning, not sure if it’s just residual oil from the original mess or not, will be keeping an eye on it.

I haven't any issues with the Toyota dealer here changing the oil....they do an impeccable job. It's the shop rate that's the issue. This job imo, is not worth over $120 to do an oil change on this truck.

Normally oil changes should be a loss leader to help sell other services. Dealers do not subscribe to that process. I spent about $54 for 4 TRD pro oil filters and about $35 for factory oil from the dealer. No matter how you add it up it still comes out less to do it yourself. Only pita is recycling the oil and I have to put the drained oil into my truck to take it to the auto parts store which ususally results in some surly counter guy telling me "I don't know if there is room in the tank" Followed by "Do you want the container back?" Yes, I want the container back, its called reusability.

I checked into having local dealer do oil change and rear differential drain and fill. Was quoted $300‍.
Told them those were BMW prices.
I am in the process of moving and tools are packed up so thought I would get it done. Guess I will wait unless I find a reliable Independent shop.

 omfg. sounds like a bad experience. Sounds like the time I was given free tire air from Courtesy Toyota when I took my truck back after service, and the steering was about 20 degrees off, and the steering was clicking, and the truck was pulling left and right...
