Bad Paint

Agree on getting some opinions from body shops and professional detailers. Black paint is challenging and shows every flaw.

I'd recommend getting it professionally ceramic coated after with Gtechniq CSL and Exo V5.

The 4Runner paint quality really went downhill after 2017. It's super thin now and whatever water base formula they're using isn't the greatest for longevity.
My last black 2020 TRD OR 4Runner was always getting bug guts and bird poop stains under the clear no matter what products I used.

 

Op fabricated a situation to make it seem like 4th Gens have issues?

 

I have some specks of dirt in my paint. Don’t care that much. In my experience it made the paint worse trying to have it fixed.

Mine was rear driver side door...
6 specks per the body shop worker, I only saw 3.

 

Front fender and rear fender. One on the hood. I buy new vehicles every few years and it’s pretty typical.

yes same looking painted dust.

 

Been a ford tech for 35 years, my bodyshop estimator / writer where I worked before throwing in the towel says as of lately has been common on Fords also...
Just sucks...

Called Toyota and they told me they were going to set up appointment with a dealer closer to me.Hopefully I will hear something next week.Pics don't show very well what I'm talking about.I will try and get some tomorrow in the sun.I`m not a troll on here,just a guy who thinks the paint is bad on his truck!!

 

Toyota paint is one of the worst in the industry, that was my only hesitation.....

 

I have a 2023 it has a tiny run in the paint on the left rear door it’s hardly noticeable but it’s there. You would think with the technology today a new Toyota would have perfect paint.

Heres a suggestion, go to your nearby dealer & see if theres another black one the lot in any trim & compare the paint & degree of orange peel.
Im not saying youre camera is amplifying the orange peel, but worth looking at others....
Take some pics so you have ammunition....
They will fix it, I had my door color sanded, not ideal but it is what it is...

My local dealer has alot of trucks at this point on the lots.
While other local dealers dont have any, its very strange observation.

 

Most trucks have orange peel textured paint at bottom of doors, both sides.

Maybe the reason that they added orange peel textured on flares. I have not seen 4th gen in person yet.
