    new truck... No mods yet!
So, I was under the weather all week and had snow removal to deal with. Made a plan with the fiancee to stay in saturday, sleep late and be lazy. Well, of course that doesn't happen. Her mom calls- snow blower is shot and she can't get to the mailbox. So, off we go, loading up the snowblower, shovels and ice breaker. Ratchet strap in the snowblower, nice and tight and hit the road. 20 mins of driving, I finally get to her street and as I push the brakes I hit a bump and BAM! The snowblower rolls into the cab. I feel the blood rushing to my head and the immediate need for a stiff drink and some Tylenol. So, I stop the truck (500 feet from the destination) and find that the ratchet strap gave out and I now have two big dings on either side of the 3rd brake lamp from the snowblower handles. Fortunately, no paint damage!

I spent almost 2 hours snowblowing everything I could find to try and lower my blood pressure. So, now we'll find out if the dent-guy can come out to my dealership on monday and get them out. I called him- he's gonna try to go in from the 3rd brake lamp. He's one of those mobile guys that works the dings out from behind the panel. I just spent $1100 on paintwork, de-pinstriping, and a full detailing at the body shop about 2 weeks ago.

No good deed goes unpunished. Next time I want to stay home and do nothing, dammit I will.

Haha, never fails eh? go to help someone out and something goes wrong. Maybe next time use a couple of rachet straps instead of one. Those things are usually cheap and I never truly trust them.

    I know how you feel!
I bet you're the only member of the family that owns a truck, so you're expected to haul something for another member just because you own a truck and they don't, its a good excuse they use.
I am in the same predictiment, I have family members that call me when they are at the funiture store and they just bought a new sofa and they need me to haul it home because the funiture store wants $75 to deliever it!
I tell them "ITS MY TRUCK, I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK FOR MY USE, NOT YOURS" I also tell them, they can afford a truck, and if they need one just buy one!
I also have a 4x4 ATV with a snow plow, I got it cause I have a 150' driveway to keep clear of the snow, the neighbors are outside with shovels and snowblowers watching me, so they wave me over and point to their driveway and expect me to plow them out, I tell them "ITS MY ATV, I BOUGHT THIS ATV FOR ME, NOT FOR YOU! you have the money, go and buy yourself one!

Does anyone know- if you take off the 3rd brake lamp lens, can you remove the lamp itself? According to the dent guy, he's going to try to get behind the dents that way. If not, it'll be removing the headliner and that will be expensive b/c of labor. I'd go outside, but it's cold and I'm lazy :)

    Two things to consider...
    1) Move to Sunny San Diego (CALIFORNIA - Yes I know)
    2) ? IDK. I can't think of anything else.

Lazy days here are the best. Sorry you feel like crap. I hope your rant helped relax you some. We all understand that the smallest nick is a huge dent for most of us. Good luck to you & remember don't answer the phone either.

If I was in hogeyphenogey's shoes I would be pissed off too!
He was helping somebody and he got his truck damaged!
If you want people to take advantage of and use you then its your business, but not me!
Just like my family member goes to a funiture store and expects me to be home not doing anything and run and pick up their funiture the second they call pisses me off, knowing they have more money than I have, knowing they can afford to pay for delivery and knowing they won't offer me any gas money for my trouble, just because I have a truck I am their slave!
snow is another issue, everybody is pissed off when it snows and they have to pick up a shovel and its not fair that you have a snowblower or plow and they don't. I paid a lot of money for my ATV with a plow, I didn't buy it for my neighbor that cares less if I live or die! Then that same neighbor calls the cops on me the second I have my ATV on the road!

For me, just knowing I've gotten my truck cosmetically where I want it- removed ugly-ass stripes, painted an f-ed up front bumper and painted egg-damaged pass doors. Spent good money on it, but now this (avoidable) issue. Had I secured it to the cab side of the bed, no issues if it let go. Instead, I went the other way to make it easier to get off with and I paid the price. I'm not pissed at the mom-in-law... she's awesome. Just seems to be that everything I try to do goes awry. It's my luck.
