Ok guys, I will say I am new to the tacoma truck series I purchased my truck used with high miles on it. I found out today that it does not have a dip stick to check the transmission, that leads me into my story.

I believe in servicing your truck to the fullest, I have been criticized in the past for over servicing it. I took my tacoma to a local Mobil One quick lube to have the trans fluid changed and a bottle of lucas put in. I was there for about 20 mins they said they were done. I requested to show me the fluid to ensure the level was right as I always do any quick lube. After about 10 mins of the guy fumbling around, I discovered they had not changed the fluid in fact the tech acutally admitted they had never done one before and were going to tell me but had not got around to it yet....

Point is it seems unless you want to do it yourself, the dealer is the only place that can do the fluid.... Here is another good point I almost left out, when I got home I got under the truck only to find they had left the fill plug so loose it was barely hanging on... It is simply amazing how you cant get any service these days.

    Mike

I am working out of town at the moment, it was coming up due and there was not a dealer near by...It was one of those things that I knew i should not have done, I definitely learned...

I have never had any problems with those places around here, but now it only goes to the dealer, because I have the lifetime oil change. But good catch, I left the oil cap off once and that was a mess
