I have a 2010 tacoma with a bad shake in the steering wheel between 60 and 70. I've taken it in and the shop told me shocks and struts so I replaced those and it did nothing. Had my tires balanced and checked and everything is good. Any ideas?

Move the front tires to the rear. If the problem goes to the rear that will point you in a good direction

At what point did this start? New wheels / tires by chance? Are the wheels Hub Centric or Lug Centric?

If they are lug centric, or the center hub hole is too large, you may need adapter hub rings as Toyota needs to have the Hub Centric Wheels.

I bought the truck used and the guy had put new tires and wheels(aftermarket) on it to help sell it. So i didn't install them.

I took it to my tire guy about the shake and he said something about spacers but then said ultra motors ports wheels don't need them?

Same exact thing happened to me. Here's the series of events:

New Tires on TRD wheels...no shake

    Billies on front....no shake

Took to alignment shop after billies....no shake for ~300 miles then got shake exactly as you describe

Took to my brother's shop for alignment and turns out the previous shop didn't tighten any of the bolts completely, so after I drove for a bit it all loosened up(lucky I didn't get killed). I would try a different shop and get your tires balanced again because if you drove with the truck out of alignment, chances are they need balanced. And even if the truck is aligned correctly, make sure everything is tight.

There is only so much it can be. Basically suspension, tires, or something in the steering connections. Or a promising way to get rid of the shake would just be to not drive 60-70. :burnrubber:

My '04 did that. Started right after getting new tires. Rebalanced them. That didn't work. Rotated them and it was better but still there. Front tires wore badly on the inside. Mechanic replaced a bushing and it stopped. Got new tires and wore those tires out. Got new tires and it was back. Mechanic said bushing was still good and replaced tie rod ends. Did not fix it. I swapped new tires for tires off my old truck. Front tires started wearing on the inside again. I drove it more wanting what was wrong to become more obvious. Mechanic wanted to replace lots more stuff. Ball joints, shocks, etc.., and it needed more tires. 290,000 miles now. I said screw it. Sold it, and bought the last new 2015 TRD OR DC in the state.
