Donahoe CO's, Deaver leaf paks, Lockright Locker, All Pro body armor ( sliders, front and rear bumpers ), All Pro under belly skids, Warn M8K w/Masterpull synthetic line, Dual Optima battery system, 4 ea LightForce Striker 170 offroad lights, 8 ea wired rock lights, and plenty more I'm sure
    the steering column/shaft play
does not exacerbate or cause shimmy and vibration.

it's simply noticed as steering slop by the driver.
washboard roads make it more pronounced - noticeable.

vibration and shimmy will find fault elsewhere
in the tire balance, steering rack or suspension components.

Right I was just mentioning that due to the fact stated about any slight slop in any components will be increased through the steering. Just like that slip joint;)

Just replaced the inner and outer tie rods a couple of thousand miles ago. Steering rack bushings could be a good reason. I do have play in the steering and the steering wheel itself is still a little crooked even after 2-3 alignments. I told them to look at the steering rack when I brought it in the last time but I guess they're deaf or something

Go to a diff shop, they should be able to set the alignment when the steering wheel is straight.
