My foot slipped off the clutch shifting from 1st to Reverse in 4H. ...Wet, icy, sliding on a steep mountain road... anyway the clutch ground for a second or two and the check engine light comes on. The truck is shifting fine in 4x4 H and L and 2WD.
Am I ok or in trouble? What should I do from here?

I plan on bringing the truck in soon anyway to tune up at 110K. Should I bring attention to this if I am experiencing no sign of gear problems? What exactly triggered the light? It is still on.

Also, aside from this issue, what do you all recommend I have done when I bring the truck in? Should I stick to the maintenance schedule recs? I am a truck newbie and I don't want to get suckered into unnecessary expenses.

This is my first truck, I just purchased it. 2004 2.7L 4x4 reg cab. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

take it too auto zone or any parts place and have code scan done. i would have them clear it and see if it comes back on.

Thank you for that advice. I had gotten an appointment at a dealership because I wasn't aware that anyone else could address this. I started the truck today and the light didn't come on at all. Everything seems fine.
