2017 trd pro Tacoma. After some off roading, sand, dirt, little mud, The inside cab of my truck has a nasty dirty water mud type smell lol. I can’t figure this thing out. I washed out the underside of the truck very well, the inside cab of the truck is spotless. It either goes away after a few minutes of driving or I get used to it. It’s been about a month since the off road session The truck sees off road all the time. Never had this issue before. Anything else you guys can think of me to check out?? Thanks!

Did you try cleaning the cabin air filter? Depending on how crazy you got, this could be dirty/moldy. It’s behind the glove box I believe.

Haha if it’s like the second gens, which I believe it is. The glove box has tabs which will allow it to open a lot lower and there is a door that holds the filter in place.

Check the rubber body plugs under the carpet. You can see them by either lifting the carpet or going underneath and looking up. Black round disks, some 1", some 2" in diameter. I've had them get pushed up and out of their holes by twigs and sticks while off roading. They are easy to accidentally pop out of their holes from below. Caused increased road noise and although I was in a dry area if it was wet water would have washed up into my carpet from below and I could see enough of that causing a musty smell. Especially if you knocked them loose while washing.

You know what you might be right. Although I have already washed the engine bay, I’m going to try that again. It could just be me but I feel like with the cab filter out, the smell is worse and I can hear the air intake a little louder so I’m guessing it is all coming from the bay. Will try that next

Have you checked under wiper cowl, where air intake for heat/ac is located? Now that you said filter is out, smell is coming in unfiltered, from cowl.
