Is the center bearing the same thing as the carrier bearing?

I think I figured it out. It was a couple loose rebound clips on my leaf springs. They were causing the rattling noise from the lower speed vibrations from the mud tires. Tightened them back up and the sound appears to be gone. Woohoo!

There was some movement when I checked the carrier bearing but is a little play normal?

Take it for what it's worth, as I'm in a low miles truck, but I just slid under mine and have no play whatsoever.
I'd have to expect some a little further down the road, however.

I'd imagine the problem manifests itself when a 'little play' turns into some 'slop'.

Sounds EXACTLY like when my heat shield bolts rusted the shield and the shield was just laying on top of the muffler rattling around.
