Was it a controlled intersection ?
If not, it’s always a bad idea to try and get thru on a yellow.
when people are in the middle of an Intersection and can’t make their left, and the light turns yellow, they panic and try to force it.

This is the reason why you approach intersections at a yellow light with caution shit like this could have been prevented only if you would have stopped or slowed down

Now you my friend are guilty and caused an accident and caused this damage to your pretty truck

NO....they cited me. I argued with him saying it was yellow, she said it was red. Not saying race had anything to do with it, but I was the minority so to speak

its likely 50/50 fault you going in on yellow and her not yielding to on coming traffic both lights I believe turn yellow at same time so. I think that's usually how these play out.

If you are sitting still and someone runs into you the insurance companys will assign a portion of the blame to you. It’s not right but that’s how it works. Pride is highly overated.

People in intersection turning left have priority. After light turns red- so she should have waited

In Merica you’re not supposed to be beyond the white line when waiting to turn left but everybody including me inches out there.

I was about to say the same. The USA norm is to pull out into the intersection and wait to turn but that’s not by the book, it’s just culturally acceptable.

And people are saying a dash cam would’ve helped but for all we know in OPs case it could do more harm than good depending on when the light turned yellow and if there was room to stop. Not saying that’s the case but I’ve seen plenty of dash cam vids that actually implicate the cammer at fault.

Not sure how it is where you're from, OP (Or where you're from), but around here it's illegal to run Yellows and it'll get you cited unless you can prove it would have been unsafe to attempt to stop. That being said I run the Yellows all the time, but that's because I'd get someone trying to fit their car into my bed if I didn't. It's almost like a sport around here to run as many Reds as possible, and Yellow just means press the go pedal harder.

EDIT: Also, glad you're ok, and sorry about your truck. I'd be feelin' pretty bad if that happened to mine.

Just go to court and fight the ticket. 98% of the time neither the cop nor other party show up. Takes a few hours out of a work day, but saves you in cash from a fine and higher premium; as well as a point on your your license.

Really, there is no proof you ran a red. One would think burden is on her end to prove it, unless the evidence (specific damage) states otherwise. A citation doesn't mean you're guilty of anything.

Not sure what you mean by "running yellows"? You mean light turning red while in intersection? Because it should be timed that you can safely proceed through while yellow?

Does go pro have a similar loop recording feature to dedicated dash cams?

Similar situation happens to my dad many years ago. He was waiting to turn (Lagging left turn signal). Light turned yellow and he watched the nose of the car dip so he started to turn when they accelerated and he ended up clipping their front end (was was on a motorcycle). They cited the other driver on that one.

Like when the light goes Yellow, around here, legally you're supposed to stop. If you go through while it's Yellow and you had time to stop you can get a citation. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone getting a ticket for it, but technically it's on the books. Could cause issues if you're going through a Yellow light and an accident occurs.
