Hey y'all, slight vibration around 20mph that might bet driveline related but it honestly feels like it's coming from front end. I also get some shaking at higher speeds 65+. the link has two videos one showing the pinon being shook with side to side wheel movement. The other shows the opposite wheel moving with the wheel being shook. My question is how normal does this look? i feel like i notice movement of the pinon in its bushings. are my tie rods or pinion bad? any and all input is appreciated, thanks y'all

Looks to me you need inner and outer tie rods I would also check. Ball joints all of which can get you in big trouble if they fail

That was my suspicion, I’m noticing a little play in the pinion bushings do they look like they are worn out

When you say pinion bushings, are you referring to your steering rack (and pinion) bushings? Some movement in the rack is normal (even with fresh ES bushings) I didn't watch your video to see if yours is excessive. Are you doing the work yourself? The rack bushings are cheap, just go for it.

If they are original, they are toast (this is true for every bushing on the truck).

if you're looking at doing the rack bushings and inner/outer tie rods then I would just get a brand new OEM rack and outer tie rods and throw a new rack on. Comes with the inners and bushings (except for the D shaped bushing). The OEM outer tie rods are cheap to add on.

cost-wise it might even be cheaper, someone in another thread said a new OEM rack is under $500 at McGeorge right now

Yeah I’d be doing it myself, it’s not much play but I might as well. It’s 240,000 miles so it’s probably time

Really? I can get new outer and inner for 100 bucks and my rack seems to be working just fine.

I wouldn't run cheap aftermarket tie rods or ball joints on these trucks but that's me

OEM inners are a couple hundred per side if I remember right, so a whole new rack with them included/installed doesn't cost much more
