I have an 07 Tacoma Prerunner V6 that squeaks in reverse and also vibrates at acceleration up to 20mph. Ive done some research and every symptom points towards bad U-Joints. Any suggestions? Thanks

If they have a grease fitting, you can try greasing them, but if they are the sealed ones, you'll have to replace them.

I have an 07 trd and just had u joints replaced at the dealership for free under a factory recall. I bought the carrier bearing expecting to pay the labor for that but the guy just installed it for free too.

Is there a recall for u joints? I have an 06 access cab that is scheduled for a new frame. I haven't heard of any recalls and my u joints just started squeaking. Any information is appreciated. Thanks

I called my local dealer yesterday. He said there is no recall. However, he said, they can drive it and if they find that it needs new U joints, there is a special replacement program or something to take care of it free of charge. Not sure if this applies to all dealerships, probably worth calling your local toyota.

I wasn't sure if recall was the right word to use but my local dealership replaced them free of charge. I do apologize if I confused anybody by calling it a recall

When i had my frame done they also did u joints, i had terrible vibes, couldn't go over 50mph. They told me that the vibes were from the lift. Obviously this wasn't true as there were no vibes before the frame. I brought the truck back to Toyota for a complete inspection and they determined after taking the drive shaft out and driving in 4wd that the vibes must be from the lift and that they did nothing wrong. I didn't believe this and decided to go to a custom drive shaft shop to have them look at it. The driveshaft shop told me that Toyota completely reassembled the shaft wrong, out phase, and the u joints all put in wrong. I asked if he could confirm this if need be and he agreed. After more back and forth, i got reimbursed for the work done on the driveshaft. make sure that everything is right when you get it back.

Talked to the service manager today. They are going to inspect the u joints. If they are the cause ofor my vibration then they will replace them no cost. I have grease fittings on all my u joints. Did the trucks come with them or possibly been replaced by previous owner?
