Have been chasing a driver's side suspension noise for a while. Thought it was the uca bushings. Bought new ones from wheelers. And noticed this play in the uniball when I started working on the uca a minute ago. Does this play seem to be normal or is it a uniball starting to go bad? Icon tublar uca.

Yes, Uniball's wear out and should have no-slack in them.

    Upgrade to the delta joint..

    yeah... that's pretty shot.

I second the vote for the delta joint. I've had my icon UCAs for about 6 months and they like attention. After every dusty offroad trip they need to be flushed with water, wiped down, and lubed otherwise they creak like crazy.

3 years with another brand of UCA on my Tundra and I never once lubed them and they never made one noise.

So the torque wrench I rented from AutoZone does not even work. So I am going to go ahead and replace the bushings and check torque on the uniball. I was really hoping to not have to replace the uniball :frusty:

Hate to say it.. but if the uniball was loose it's probably been damaged

New bushings are in. Retorqued through bolt it was off by about 5lbs. The movement is now barely noticeable so hopefully I can get a month out of the uniball. Delta joints will be my option but I have to find some money or create some debt to buy them. (Adjusting to a new job so money is tight)

So instead of starting a new thread I'll just ask my questions in the current thread. I have accepted the fact my uniballs are going bad and I'm now working toward saving or creating more debt to fix the issue so... How hard is it to remove Icon uniballs from the tublar UCAs? I prefer to do all the work myself and not involve a shop. I do not have a press but I watched the YouTube video of the Camburg replacing uniballs and it seemed way to easy. Next question, does any one have instructions or guidelines on how to install Icon Delta Joints? I cannot find instructions for the life of me any where on the internet. I will be going with them since my stock uniballs shit out after 15,000 miles with only a handful of off-roading on them. Thank you in advance

removing the uniball should not be too hard. you might have to hit it a couple times to get it out. and as far as installing the delta joint install, maybe just an extra deep socket that will go over the taper
