It's just a piece of metal and some bolts, so can't imagine there is a bad one, or a best one.

That said, it's about driveshaft angle. So maybe the one you used is either too short, or too long to restore proper angles and eliminate vibes. You can buy a digital angle finder and see what your angles are and compare that to factory angles and see how far off you are.

Assuming the problem is the CB spacing for those 15-25 mph vibes.

Install that cb drop and report back. I'm betting it fixes your problem

I have some 1/4 aluminum that I might cut and throw it on as a CB drop. It won't take but a few minutes, so I guess it is worth a try to see if it changes anything. I will report back.

...and that was after a replacement of the needle bearing as well.

Got it. Will try as soon as I get to the house. Thanks to everyone for their input. This issue has become a menace.

I agree. It is driving me nuts and this stuff is hard to troubleshoot.

CB drop did not work for me either...but this did. Used a center support bearing for a Ford Ranger or a Bronco II (they have the same diameter shaft). Then cut out some of the bracket and secure new support bearing on the top of the bracket. Should straighten the shaft out and get rid of the vibes.

Well my results were not the best. The spacer didn't seem to make any difference, so I took them out. Now in reverse my truck squeaks. It didn't do this before, so I put the spacers back in and it still squeaks. No combination will stop it from squeaking in reverse. I even flipped the CB. Does this mean its probably bad. Doesn't look like its ever been replaced and the truck has 116k miles.

It could be the rubber part of the center support bearing making the noise since it is probably pinched now due to changing driveline angles. The squeaking could also be coming from the fins on your CV boots. At very low speeds (forward and reverse) my driver side outside CV boot rubs and makes a squeaking noise.

I might shoot some lubricant on the CB and see if anything changes. It just is wierd it started right after I screwed with it.

I just test drove mine and it seemed a little better. Tried a hard acceleration as well and it was better. Think I will shim it a little more tomorrow.

Yeah I tried to squirt some lube on it and that didn't help. Still has a squeak in reverse. I might replace all three u joints and the carrier bearing. I know it has to be driveshaft related, but while I have it out I can drive it in 4 wheel drive to see if I still have the vibration.

I am starting to believe that the needle bearing and the
Mine was still doing it in 4WD.

Mine did too, but not as bad. But I haven't totally removed the main driveshaft yet either. Even when it is in 4wd that thing spins. By removing it I will just be running fwd for the test.

Fought take off vibes and 15mph vibe after lifter lifting my truck with 3" suspension lift. Tried all options including carrier bearing drop and flip, 2.5 degree shims, and lower my crossmember to drop the transmission angle. The shims and cb drop together were the worst combo for me. After removing shims the take off vibe was gone but 15 mph vibe was still there. Then I lowered my transmission crossmember with a kit and dropped my cb and no more vibes. It's all an angle game and there are numerous threads up here with different opinions on what angles to go with. You will definitely need to buy a digital angle finder.
