Celicamt: Did you ever solve this issue? I am having the same problem. It started before I got new tires. I thought it was just my old tires but I got new ones and had them balanced twice yet the problem remains. I had my U joints on the drive shaft replaced in the spring. Could they have gone bad already? It clunks really bad sometimes (most times) when shifting into drive from park or reverse.

Thank you for your reply. After some research I am beginning to believe this may be my issue. I was under my truck a few days ago and there seems to be a lot of play in the carrier bearing, I was able to push on the drive shaft and move it around. Is that normal?

mine does the exact same thing...collateral damage to a 2 pc driveshaft im guessing... also i saw you searching how to replace the bearing....keep in mind it may never go away even with a new one.just the way it is i think....that slight movement is more then enough even on a new bearing under pressure to amplify at 60 mph

    Well that's kind of discouraging!
The hwy I drive to work on is brand new so I really notice this shudder. It begins at 50mph and continues up to 75mph (Haven't gone any faster). It started 3-4 weeks ago. We got a snow storm and I thought maybe some snow froze on the wheels but that is not the case. I had my frame replaced back in October so they would have removed the drive shaft and it looks like the carrier bearing is not aligned properly (It looks like it is not perpendicular to the drive shaft). But I didn't take note to it's alignment prior so I can't make a comparison.

Damn. I just kind of thought 'well the dealership knows better than me' so I left it. Now I'm guessing the bearing is completely shot from misalignment.

by lifting the truck you've taken it out of its stock geometry that it was designed for, pull off the lift and put it back the way it was supposed to be

My truck is stock. Unless it was lifted before I bought it but I'm certain it wasn't.

I can't man. The dealership replaced them with the non-serviceable type (No zerk fittings) and they only just did that back in the spring.
