Hello everyone, I am new to the form but this is my first post and really need help. I have a 2004, tacoma has 5.29 gears, six inch lift and so on, but I have a really bad vibration at higher speeds. When I shift from park to drive there's a clunk, and idles very low, but the vibration happens when I let off the gas, but if I get back into the gas it stops. I do know I need a new hanger barring but I do not think that's my main problem. Any thought would help I'm stumped on this one. Thank you.

Drive shaft? Lots of play when you grab in and move it?

The hanger barring has play yes but not the drive line and why would it idle under 500 rpm and clunk when being put into drive and reverse, reverse is worse yet

Low idle is an entirely different issue from the clunk. Do a search on that, there are dozens of previous threads.

The clunk is either the tranny, u-joints, or differential. Hopefully its just the u-joints. Remove it, and take it to a good drive-line shop.

Well if the tranny is starting to slip wouldn't you be able to tell when it shifts gears? And the diffs just got rear geared a few months ago. Every time I change the oil I grease everything, but I know my hanger barring has play in it but would it cause that much of a vibration?

Found I snapped a u joint there was chunks wedged in the caps making it feel like it didn't have any play. Thank you for all the help. Anyone know of a stronger made u joint? I'm making to much power for the specs on them.
