They welded the gussets on the wrong side. They're supposed to be on top to resist the force of hitting a rock

isn't that what I said? That doesn't mean "the slider is upside down".

Thank you for including the instructions.

Interestingly within the instructions.. step 17 says the [triangle] gusset can go on either the top or the bottom. So according to the 4x instructions OP's welder didn't mount the gusset upside down.

I'd think gusset on top would be optimal for all instances UNLESS the tube stand-off is mounted so high on the frame plate that there isn't enough room for such orientation. <shrug>

I'm not even fully welding mine on tbh. It's too difficult to get in there on top and zero room on the bottom with the square tube

Yes, different variations. Have even customized 2 sets to fit KDSS on GX470 and a 4Runner. They’re in my opinion one of the best sets out there. I got my wife the basic set for her T4R for $230 shipped and they arrived in 4 days.

Definitely hard pressed to beat their prices considering the stock material is half the cost of $300 (in my experience.) Add bending, cutting frame plates, coping tube and there's little margin. I've recently bought 1.75" HREW and 3/16" plate at [reasonable] volume. I do think they could/should offer an upgrade option for beefier bolt on frame plates.. but that requires a certain amount of custom work per model that may solidly boost the price.

Little update here, I went ahead and tried this weld myself. Overall, it is definitely doable, thanks to those who said to try.
I’m not sure what got OP’s guy so out of whack. I did this with stick and ran 6013 and it was pretty straight forward, even with this being my first true out of position vertical weld .
I Used a wire wheel on the frame and plates and laid down 2 passes per side. I had a hard time terminating the passes, as you can see, but they were easy to grind out and wrap around the bottom edge after getting a new position. The gauge of steel used for the rails and the plates is so thick you don’t have to worry about blowing anything out.

The set up and tacking of the legs and gussets took way longer than the actual finish weld.

I’d be willing to bet the OP’s welder decided to weld the plates to the sliders before install and then due to clearance issues had to drop the plates lower on the frame for clearance between the sliders and rockers

Regardless of the order of operations, the welds pictured in OP's first post are just.. drastically poor.
On both of those photos, at least 50%, perhaps more, of the total weld length looks "cold," with substandard-to-zero penetration at all.

I suspect that has more to do w/ the welder not having an adequately-powerful welding machine. Or if it does have enough power, he didn't know the correct amperage / voltage to use for the thicknesses of the frame & slider plates.

I would tell him to grind it all off at his expense, give you back whatever parts of the sliders can be salvaged, and then take it to a pro 4x4 fab shop with a proven track record to clean up & attach properly.
