Light is light. However your flawed logic of RTTs offends me. Think of the amenities.

So question about RTTs.... after you set them up you are stuck stationary until you pack it backup... how much of a pain in the ass is that?

Yeah once they are set up you are kinda stuck there. I feel like this feeds into the debate about having an offroad trailer that you can un-hitch, set up and still go romp around with your truck. But from all of my overlanding trips, those guys running RTT have their tents packed in less than 10 minutes. Unless they have one of them fancy air mattresses.

Last night we did some much needed buffing in preparation for decals! This truck hasn't looked this smooth since I first bought it. Crazy seeing it without the pinstripes. Can you guys tell any difference? The lighting sucked. I'll try to get better pictures from the other side.

Ok. 10 minutes is not bad to be packed up and go. I mean i guess all you are doing is sleeping up there so there isnt much up there to pack up. A trailer would be nice though, if you are going to be camping in the same spot for a few days. If you are trekking around i wouldnt want to be pulling a trailer, defiantly not of 4 diamond rated stuff.

But how is it when its cold and windy? Does the bottom of the tent get cold and cause you to be could also? Kinda like what happens with a hammock... Or is the padding thick enough?

It looks good, did you clay bar it? You should try to take some pictures of the reflection on a sunny day.

As far as cold and wind goes, it's just like any other tent. In the wind it has the usual flapping noises and it CAN get cold if you don't have a good sleeping bag or blankets. The stock foam pads on the bottom of the tent are usually alright. I do believe they are insulated. Most people upgrade to a better pad or air mattress.

A nifty trick I've heard of some guys doing for winter camping is if you have an annex, they will run a catalytic heater at the base of the ladder and it heats up the tent through the night. The Co2 emission is so minimal and there is plenty of airflow that there's no severe danger. I have a friend that plugs in a heating blanket. Cold isn't an issue with this group haha we actually camped in the high Unita's a couple weekends ago where the temp dropped pretty damn low. I woke up sweating at one point.

I can't wait for my tent!!

Time to add another overland trip.

    Return to Great Basin - Sept. 30 - Oct. 2, 2016

Friday three of us left early to check out the Meadow hot springs in central Utah. There are three pools. One of which is diveable.

Good morning from Camp #1. This was outside of Ghandi Utah where we discovered another natural warm spring.

Fun Fact. I know how to bake. Went to culinary school and everything. Well, when people figure this out they expect great things. Luckily, if you're a part of my group, you get birthday cakes made at 10,000ft elevation, on a mountainside, in the wilderness that has everything to do with trucks and camping. Not bad for not having any kitchen tools!
    20161001_202031.jpg

The road up was eventually washed out due to a landslide. We decided to come back down and set up camp at the mine.

Heading up and over the backside of Great Basin National Park.
Early in August a fire started by lightning had ripped through this side of the park. It burned 4,600 acres.

I made a video edit of the trip as well! It's a little more exciting than the pictures. Let me know what you think. I'm working on my video skills.

Anyone know much about Volant air intakes? I just got one from a local guy in exchange for my stock one. He claims he is switching back to stock to run a snorkel but, of course, I'm worried. I keep wondering if there was a secret reason behind swapping it out. But reviews are good on it, plus it was a killer deal. Otherwise I wouldn't have done it. Performance upgrades are low on my list.

    Pictures to come.

    Slacker, I am.

Installed a Volant cold air intake. Local guy was selling it for dirt cheap. Peer pressure is a bitch sometimes.

Had a meet up / photo shoot with Wasatch Tundras and Tacomas on Sunday (2/12/17). 42 trucks showed up for the event. Meeting up for photos is awesome and all, but I realize that I would much rather be off road, off grid, camping far away from the city and people. This group is all about that pavement princess life. I tag along for cool trucks. Drone footage coming soon!

But first... coffee with the guys.

Our first location was already occupied by another SLC truck group (not toyota). We were judging their souped up Ridgelines and I could feel the fiery judgement of our Yotas. At least there were more of us and our trucks looked more badass.

Damm your wicked awesome, beautiful Tacoma and man Utah is definitely a state I need to check out for sure. Just the shear amount of public access land is outstanding, nothing like that in my god awful state well none that's legal for motor vehicle use. Keep up the fantastic work on the Taco and definitely keep taking those awesome pics so us east coasters can live vicariously through you and your photos hahaha
