Why not instead of bailing out Ford, spend the billions of dollars and infuse it back into the economy? I understand the big 3 provide tons of jobs, but they should NOT be kept alive based on PRINCIPAL ALONE! These scum bags spend the last 20 years making retarted decisions, fucking up financially and not caring because they rape America for so much FUCKING MONEY every day anyway, they sit in their yachts and chuckle about their billion dollar profits, while America can't afford gas for their fucking heep of junk fords.

Now finally these scum bags are going to pay for their idiotic business skills, but no! The fucking government is going to infuse billions into their proven-to-fail companies? WTF! Growing up i though older people knew what the fuck they were doing, I thought they were smart and resonable, and had my interests in their hearts... I was wrong, these guys incharge are THE SHIT OF THE UNIVERSE and deserve to be locked up or destroyed. Dont care which.

I agree, I too lost respect for our elders. The older generations are interested in self-preservation at the expense of the future generations. You're going to see our grandchildren in unbearable conditions.

Basically with the bill (which just recently passed in the House but stalled in the Senate) is handing GM and Chrysler taxpayer dollars to pay their bills. So congress is giving them money to buy them time to come up with a new business plan to be "viable" in the future. It is very irresponsible to loan a company money who is close to bankruptcy and does not have a business plan yet to dig themselves out. Taxpayers will have to keep funding the Big Three to stay alive while they implement any kind of new business plan. The legislation does not look out for the taxpayer - this is why it didn't pass the Senate.

the way i see it, if we are paying their bills, each one of us deserves a free vehicle.

So let me get this straight. I goto work everyday to support myself, some goto work to support families, we work hard, we get taxed for what we earn, and most of us have a hard time getting by in the current economy. So now you want me, to pay the bills of the very people who have been shitting on for the past 20 years? I am so opposed to this i might just lose my mind and head to detroit with an army.

The Big three does not deserve a bailout period!!! They will come back asking for more just like Chrysler has. private auto and banking industry is not the taxpayer's burden. I am angry at congress for even thinking about making exceptions to this principle.

imagine if the government gave some of that money for the bailouts to the people of the country as a tax break, right before xmas. Im sure that most of that money would make it into the system faster then it will at GM or Ford.

haha. Look what this country has come to. Looking to government to solve all of its problems. This is not what government is for. The purpose of government is to legislate, enforce legislation within its jurisdiction, and provide several public services. The government was not made to control handouts or solve economic problems. Want to know why government is incompetent at handling the economic crisis? Because it is not in a position to do so as it is not its primary function.

I also say NO to the bailout. These CEO's made a lot of money over the years, The 3 CEO's say they will work for no pay just a dollar a year, but what they are not telling us is they still are going to get their stock options and bonus, they sould down scale make a good product and compete with everybody eles.

So, I'm confused. Do we live in a capitalist nation or a socialist nation?

someone had to bring up the bailout...

I haven't read through all ten pages, but what people don't seem to understand is that the bailout is not a question of saving the Big 3 from liquidation. The fact is, bankruptcy would greatly benefit the companies, and the bailout would not.

By filing chapter 11 bankruptcy, the companies would be able to reorganize their labor structures, dissolve UAW contracts, and shed excess costs, all while continuing to operate. Chapter 11 allows massive changes without massive job losses. This is an effective alternative for struggling corporations every year, including the airline industry and Delta in 2007. Execs are asking for a bailout because chapter 11 would benefit the companies, but also deplete executive salaries.

To paraphrase economist Jeremy Siegel, any bailout of the auto industry is really a bailout for the health benefits of the United Auto Workers.
