Great news!!! What’s the turnaround for the upgrade and what’s the estimated cost on that? Debating between buying new amber ones and selling the old ones or just upgrading my existing.

My guess would be that it would make more sense to buy the new lights and sell your current lights. BD is aggressive with their MAP pricing even on eBay so that means the 2nd hand pricing is strong. Again I have no idea what the cost would be to upgrade to SAE but that's just my theory looking at the current BD market.

Would a 30” S8 fit on the top plate of a demello Baja style bumper or is 20” S8 the max?

Best way is to measure between the hoop.

yeah I think it will fit but it will depend on where I drill the holes and how tall the light bar bracket will be. The hoop angles are pretty steep so it should fit if it sits close to the top plate

Cool thanks! I'll measure tonight during the install and see if a 30" will fit!

trying to decide on balance of lighting for the front of my truck. I already have a pair of amber combo squadrons that I plan on placing in the outer 'corners' not sure what I want between them. was originally thinking a 20" S8 but I dont like that its shorter than they are and think it might look odd so was wondering about 3 XL sports [two combos and maybe one spot]. The lumen output for the XLs is less, but how will the actual pattern differ? I assume the XLs will have better distance.

Are you planning on mounting these on a stock bumper or aftermarket bumper? or are you putting them somewhere else? I've got the 20" S8 and it very good in my own opinion. I also have some of the XL80s as ditch lights....they are absolute beasts of lights.

My understanding of this goes like this....the Squadron series uses the same projector size as the S2 and S8 bar. And the XL series uses the same as the ONX6 bar. The larger projector in the XL/ONX6 gets you a better light pattern than the smaller projector Squadron/S2/S8. However, if size is a factor the smaller footprint of the Squadron/S2/S8 line can be a huge benefit over the XL/ONX6 line.

All of these are just my personal observations and @Baja Designs can chime in if this is correct or not.

Mounting on NFab light bar at stock bumper level.
I have S2 pros already to use for ditch lights

Ok so pricing out what you suggested (S8 or 3 XL sports) it sounds like your budget is around $600.

If you're looking for suggestions, what I would do is a 20" ONX6 with driving combo lenses. If you message @paranoid56 he is a BD distributor and a great guy to work with. The ONX6 will be just a little over your budget but you'll get projectors thatll fill things out a little more and not look so small compared to the Squadrons on either side. Plus the ONX6 is a BADASS light bar. Just ask @EatSleepTacos .

The ONx6 is to wide to fit unfortunately. BD's impossibly slow website shows it at 4.29" [I am assuming wide because for this series theres no drawing]

I'm game for 600-700 bucks total for this.

yeah....I guess 'deep' is the right term. anyway...its too deep. I only have about 2ish from center of hole to face of grill clear

Center of mounting hole? To face of your grille? If that's the case then most of the depth is on the back of the mounting bolts. You'd have to wait for @Baja Designs to give you exact measurements tomorrow when he gets into the office.
