i figured it was something like that since they’re “backordered” across the board. Strange a company like BD would label and sell something as SAE compliant without actually being.

do you know if the fix will hinder performance from the current version? Might be worth picking up a set in stock somewhere if that’s the case.

I’d like to see some beam shots of the S1 spots. I’m looking for something to supplement my S8 20” driving/combo and squadron sports for longer distance but don’t have a ton of room for the bigger lights. I’m thinking a couple S1s on the bumper would give me a little more distance.

I started installing my ditch lights. The harness that came with the lights doesn’t seem to be long enough. Does BDs sell an extension that can be plugged in to lengthen one side of the harness?

What’s everyone using for a-pillar mounted ditch lights? With everything else that’ll be going on my truck I really don’t “need” them but can’t resist taking advantage of the Black Friday discount so I’m going to get some squadron sports for ditch lights.

I have a road armor with 4 pockets, 2 will be getting sae fogs, the other 2 will probably get squadron pros and I have a 40” onx6 hi power combo beam I’ll be welding brackets on for.

I guess the short of it is should I go with combo or spot pattern for squadron sport ditch lights?

@Baja Designs im trying to wire up my s2 sports as chase lights but the harness I bought with the relay is really short do I have extend the wire? And is their cons? Or it should it would fine since one wire is shorter than the other I am going to have to make both the same length sorry for the dumb question

Anyone think the XL sports are worth the added cost over the squadron sports?

    This should solve your problem

Depends. At the end of the day a larger reflector will provide greater realized light output. Are you space limited whatsoever?

no they’re going on the a pillars of my 16 ram 3500, I asked about the best pattern a couple posts up. I can’t find any info wether the output is noticeably different with the two lights

    Is it noticeably different? Yes.

However, do I "personally" believe that it is worth the additional cost associated with them to get the larger reflector? That's a negative. Now, if you were asking if you should buy a set of XL80s to make use of the additional size and lumen output... That would be a HARD Yes.

for sure XL80s would rock but with everything else i have going on up front (40” hi power combo, squadron pro combo x2, and squadron sae x2) I cant justify spending that much. I guess for a few bucks more the squadron pros would probably be a better buy then XL sports.

but for the cost and only wanting them for a true ditch light, not down road lightning I think the squadron sports will be hard to beat. I just need to decide on combo or spot beam

If you want them as true ditch lights then don't get the spot. I'd recommend wide cornering or work scene as a second for the Squadron Sports. If you get the pure beef XL80S then driving combo.

The Squadron Sports have a lot less output than the XL80s so you need to use the light you have closer to the vehicle. The XL80s crank out so much light that you can afford to get the best of both worlds.

If you were going to honestly look at the XL80s then I'd encourage you to check out the new LP4s. They have side shooter LEDs and would work great as ditch lights.

im definitely not getting XL80s, I also thought LP4s would be awesome ditch lights but for the same reason as the XL80s (cost) I won’t be going with those either.

I really don’t need any extra lighting but feel compelled to take advantage of the Black Friday rebate and only have pro series lights so figured I’d pick up a set of sports. I was concerned wide cornering might put too much light onto the hood?

The Squadron Sports are definitely the best bang for the buck in the rebate program. If that's your motivation.

How are you going to angle them? Straight forward? Then yes. Down and out? No

my thoughts exactly, for $150ish I see no reason not to try them. Also getting 2 pairs of SAEs to get the most out of the rebate.

I’ll probably angle them slightly out towards the sides and not down but perpendicular to the road. My thought is to light up the woods in front of me on narrow 2 lane highways. Lots of deer and elk
