Anyone else think the S1 is gonna kill off the S2 sport? Same price and over twice the output I don’t see a reason to get S2 sports.

Hell I’d be hard pressed to buy S2 pros anymore given the price difference and similar output, unless I absolutely had to have a combo pattern in a single light.

Dont think that would happen, everything has its place/purpose and not everything is about output. That being said S1 would be nice for a chase light for sure just hope they make proximity color lens like they do for s2’s @Baja Designs ? :fingerscrossed:

Everything’s about output to me lol. From what I’m hearing the S1 will likely outshine the S2 pro due to the larger reflector size so I think it’ll be more useful then just chase lights.

lighting to me is strictly higher speed forward driving light on rural desolate highways tho so I don’t use it everyway most of you guys do. No deserts in PA.

I'd have to compare them side by side (I've got two sets of S2 Pros and a set of S1s on the way). My guess would be that the S2 Pro Wide Cornering would out perform the S1 wide cornering due to the power being spread across two smaller LEDs. You can't get the S1 in a driving combo so the win goes to S2 Pro for that lens also. However, the S1 should win in the spot lens due to the larger reflector.

I'll hopefully have time to show the differences once everything arrives. I've got a fancy light meter and big plans of doing direct comparisons across all the Baja Designs lights.....only hurdle is finding the time to do it.

Sounds like a fun project. Yea if a combo lens is required on a single light then obviously the S2 pro wins there, I have a set of S2 pro combos mounted to the crash bar on my harley and wouldn’t change them for S1s since they cover all the area I need in a single light.

Other then that tho the S1 seems pretty tough to beat given the price. I love BD lighting but really wish they’d put out better videos and pictures with direct output and comparisons. Their promotions for new lights really don’t give you much.

OH yeah, if you take price into account then the S1 is the way to go. Hands down. I agree about the lack of output comparisons which is why I originially had the idea to do my own comparison. I've got S2s, Squadrons, an S8, OnX6, XL Pros, XL80s and XL Lasers. The idea would be to set up a DSLR with fixed settings and photograph each light in the exact same spot on the same night. I'd also set up the light meter at different distances to get an idea of how far they throw light. I've got a drone that I can get some overhead shots with to better show the throw of each light. Only problem with the drone is the camera has automatic settings unless I can figure out how to change them.

I’d love to pitch in on that project I have 4x squadron pros, 4x LP9s, a 40” onx6 hi power, 20” onx6 hi power, a set of S2 pros, and on the way a pair of squadron sports, S1s and two pairs of SAEs.

depending on the type of drone you should be able to through them app. I have a mavic 2 pro zoom and I’m pretty sure the camera settings can be changed

Is there an installation guide for the sae fogs? Are they pretty much plug n play?

If they are the same process as the non sae ones, I'd say they are plug and play plus about 30 seconds of effort with a volt meter. Just gotta figure out which side was hot and which was ground off the factory plug.

So do you end up cutting the plug and splicing the provided plug into the factory wiring? Or something like that?

There is an adapter pigtail that matches the factory plug (Deutch) then the light end has a weatherpack connector that you just click the wires into. Just gotta know which wire is the hot and which is the ground to make sure the polarity is correct. Instructions make it easy and I think there is at least one youtube video.

 It'll make even more sense when you are looking at them. I have the OG BD fog lights and I can say they are light years better than the oem ones. Even the SAE ones are bound to be an improvement.

Thanks. I like the option of being able to run the fogs on the highway and based on the initial data it does look like the SAE will be an into one thing over factory. Now to convince the wife they are needed for the safety during fog and snow storms.

Being in a white truck, they absolutely are! I am a fellow white truck owner and it makes me visible just as much as it allows me to see. We had a few really gnarly foggy snowy days here last week and you can bet I was running fogs and the chase bar just to not take a honda up the tailpipe / head on.

During the day, the sport models are bright but not terrible, but it would be a dick move to run them on the road at night.

Yeah-my brother in law has the sports in a 4Runner and has had them on while following me out a trail. They were blinding in the rear view mirror.
