Hey Bailey, I think it's really cool that you are active on this forum! And I love how BD takes lighting so seriously as a science, not just plopping a bunch of random leds into a cheaply made housing.

Like 1MK I am looking forward to upgrading from my cheap lights in the near future and am seriously looking at baja designs. I love the user changable lens, with other companies, disassembly would void the warranty.

My current main light is a Chinese 20" single row. It has 4 floods on either side and 12 spot leds (with little lenses in the reflectors) in the center and overall I'm disappointed in it. The fill light is decent but the throw is not very good at all. The factory high beams are able to throw much more distance.

I was considering going up to a brand name double row bar, like an E2 from Rigid but I really like some of the design points of your lights better. I don't know how you feel about product comparison with competitors but can one of your 20" offerings compare to a dual row light bar in output and distance?

    Mike,

Thank You for your interest in our products.

Chris4x4 did a review featuring our OnX6 20" and a few competitors. Here is that thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/led-20-light-bar-review.381134/

The OnX6 is the furthest projecting LED Light Bar on the market. Our OnX6 20" with 12 LED's will outshine a 20" double row with over double the LEDs.
A big part of this is due to the high quality LEDs and larger reflectors. A Light with larger reflectors will outperform the smaller reflectors. Same goes for well engineered reflectors vs. those that have a lower quality design.

    More information on the OnX6 20" Driving/Combo:
    http://www.bajadesigns.com/ProductDetail/452003-Onx6-20-Drivingcombo-Led-Light-Bar
    MSRP: $769.95
    TW: $692.95

Post up if you have any more questions!

    Thank You,
    Bailey, Baja Designs

    Cool, thanks for the link!

Now that I'm pretty well decided on which brand to go with perhaps you can help me with a "lighting plan"

I currently have a plate front bumper. On top of the bumper in the center hoop is mounted a 20" single row bar. There are also cutouts for fog lights in the bumper, currently unused. I also have a 10" single row amber spot bar behind to grille mounted up higher than the 20".

Do you think I'd be better off using the fog cutouts for cornering lights and the 20" bar as the main spot or maybe vice versa?

I don't race or do high speed stuff but I would like a good well balanced lighting setup.

 Ordered some Squadron-R Pro's from Bailey last week, they arrived today and the quality is top notch! These are most definitely an upgrade from the PIAA 510's. I can tell these will stand up to abuse better. Although its doesn't show on camera they are pretty much the same color as my Rigid 30 (5000k). Thanks a bunch Baja Designs!

Not a negative at all, but one thing to note for others with the older style All Pro bolt together bumper is that i did have to space the light up a bit (3/4") on the bumper bracket. I could have probably just bent the bumper bracket up a little, but i've seen them break on other All Pro bumpers, so i didn't want to take the chance of having to drop the bumper to reweld it.

Using the bumper, I would mount an OnX6 20" Driving/Combo in your current 20" Location.
For the fog pockets, Our Squadron Series LED Lights in Wide Cornering will give you a flattened 42 degree horizontal beam. Ideal for cornering and poor visibility conditions.
Here are a few options/packages starting with "A" being the top tier option

    (Option A)
The OnX6 is the furthest projecting LED Light Bar on the market. You will get the most near field, mid field, and distance lighting with this setup.
This is the premium package using the best in our OnX6 and Squadron Series lights!

    -OnX6 20" Driving/Combo
    http://www.bajadesigns.com/ProductDetail/452003-Onx6-20-Drivingcombo-Led-Light-Bar
    $769.95 ------ $692.95
    -Squadron Pro, Pair, Wide Cornering
    http://www.bajadesigns.com/ProductDetail/497805-Squadron-Pro-Pair-Wide-Cornering-Led
    $429.95 ------ $386.95

    (Option B)
If you're working on a little bit tighter of a budget, Our Stealth LED Light Bar packs a punch with 4,200 Lumens per 10" section!
The Stealth measures 1.55" Tall and features a sleek anodized housing. (1MK is using our 30" Stealth) The Squadron Sports put out 1,800 Lumens each.
They provide more usable light than some knock off 20" LED Light Bars!

    -Stealth 20" Driving/Combo
    http://www.bajadesigns.com/ProductDetail/472003-Stealth-20-Drivingcombo-Led-Light-Bar
    $579.00 ------ $521.10
    -Squadron Sport, Pair, Wide Cornering
    http://www.bajadesigns.com/ProductDetail/557805-Squadron-Sport-Pair-Wide-Cornering-Led
    $229.95 ------ $206.95

You can easily mix and match LED Light Bars and Aux. Lights based on your budget and lighting needs!
These are two of the very popular packages our customers put together. If you have a bumper featuring a 4" Fog pocket, our Squadron-R Series will fill the hole nicely!

    Thank You,
    Bailey, Baja Designs

We do have some bumper specific spacers to help spacer the light in the fog hole.
I can send you those if you're interested!

ALL Customers ordering Squadron-R Lights!! Please make a note of the bumper you are mounting them in. We can provide the spacers specific to the bumpers!
Thank You everyone for the support. We appreciate all the PMs and Posts!

Thanks Bailey! I'm liking option A, and I super appreciate the discount! I gotta start saving my pennies. I'll let you know when I'm ready to order.

One more question. I currently have a good name brand 10" amber bar in spot pattern but the amount of light it puts out is almost unusable. When used with the headlights you can't really even tell it's on and it's not bright enough to use by itself. Is this just how an amber led behaves? I've heard amber will not be as bright as a white led bar. Or is the point of an amber bar to allow others to see you and not to cast an amber beam 300' downrange?

We are happy to help when you are ready!
All of our lights use amber Lenses instead of LED's. We have found that an Amber LED will significantly diminish the output of the lights. Our Amber Lights do provide the same output as the White. A bright white light will always appear brighter to the human eye. Amber is commonly used in dust, rain, snow, and fog. It will greatly reduce glare in those situations.

I'm not too sure what light you are running for the 10". All of our lights, Amber or White, will be a great addition to the factory lighting. In many cases the factory lighting is useless!

Loving my @Baja Designs S2 LED's in my @allpro bumper!

Camera settings were the same for both shots so you get the idea of the light thrown when firing down from the bumper.

No kidding, you'll be very happy with them.

Love reading your trip reports on TAC by the way, that Grand Canyon site was epic. I hope to one day soon drag my trailer out that way a spend a few weeks in AZ, UT, NV and CO among other places!
