Why the amber lens? Is it lighting the road or the looks of the lights on the truck that matters most?

amber colored light is "suppose" to cut through bad weather better than white light. heard it was the wave length of the yellow light that is different in the fog than normal colored headlights. however, they are mounted too high to be fogs

but depending what and where you read about this, there is the arguement that it doesn't matter what color you use

I read just the opposite... and I think if the OP ever experienced HIDs (with clear lens) he would make the change... HIDs (at the best/ brightest light temp. (4,300Âş-5,000Âş K) are amazing in turning night into day, as if the sun came out.

Baja Designs shop is in San Marcos/ Vista area, and I am sure he could swing by and change the lenses if he wants to.

you'll be suprised how many people use 3000k for fogs. like is said, depending where you get your information, people will state different answers.

For me My HIDS suck at night on snow. All I see is blinding white all around. My middle Light is yellow it helps a lot when the other 2 are covered.

I changed to the amber lens from clear and I have experience w/ HID's as I have 4 HID Baja Designs La Paz lights and 2 HID Baja Designs (amber) Fuegos on my FJ. The amber lenses cut out alot of white out and enhance the shadows both in bad weather and sand. I will try to add their new LED lights to my rack when it's completed.

Thanks for the reply... I was at their shop looking at my options after the cheap Kragen HIDs broke their housings in Baja. Our son who works for Stewart's Race Works got me the metal Hellas, as a Father's Day gift... I love lighting technology so I was wondering why amber... they do look great, by-the-way.

Thanks, I have used the Fuego's in snow and dust and high speed sand washes and like the contrast that they add. I'm up in Julian so I get all kinds of weather to test em out in! Added a pic to post # 16.
