Anybody have any decent night shots? Really torn between getting the squadron sports or paying more for the SAE version.

Are you okay with not having them on against oncoming traffic? If so, go with the sports 1000%

I would be very selective when I run them on the street. I’ve seen them in person, and they’re not any worse than people running HID’s in their halogen housing headlights/fogs.

Running HIDs in the fogs is the most egregious lighting mods possible with extremely dangerous levels of glare and not one that should be used as a bar for comparison. As mentioned above, if you want to use them on the street with forward traffic, SAE is the way to go. If not Sports have better output. Sucks to not be able to use your fogs in fog on the street though, something to consider.

I was told by a vendor that the SAE lights have to be redesign because they did not meet criteria for legal street use. Can you confirm @Baja Designs ?

Baja Designs | SAE Compliance Service Bulletin

In November 2019 a third party made Baja Designs aware that the SAE Squadron was out of compliance with J583 guidelines. We immediately shipped samples to a testing facility for further verification. Our testing discovered that the light was over by 119 candelas on the upward horizontal axis. In more understandable terms, that is the equivalent of 1.19 candles at 10 meters. Our engineering department has been working on a fix for existing customers ensuring their SAE Squadron’s comply. We have developed a lens insert that has been tested and confirmed by Intertek, the global leader in compliance testing, that can be installed into existing products.

Current backorders of our SAE Squadron will ship in 3-4 weeks. Existing customers can either install the insert themselves or contact Baja Designs directly requesting a shipping label. Once we receive the light in-house, our trained technicians will update the SAE Squadron followed by expediting the now compliant Squadron back free of charge.

Please reach out to Baja Designs directly ensuring your SAE Squadron is updated within a timely manner.

Do you happen to have pictures of this lens which fixes the light cutoffs?

Are you trying to run these as fogs or other lights? On its own switch or factory fog switch?

As fog lights, just bought the SAE fog lights. Plan on connecting them to the current fog light switch.

Just curious to see how people installed them with the bracket.

There are a couple YouTube videos that show how to do it. It’s really the same process as the other squadrons.
Basically, the bracket with the double tabs goes to the inside of the truck and slides into the slots from the factory. The single tab with the holes goes on the outside of the light and the factory screw goes through it to mount. Hope that makes sense.

If you have the kit then just follow this video. Pretty easy and I skipped the splash guard part and just went through the front and it was fine. Good luck

Anyone know if you can adjust the angle left to right on the fogs? It looks like mine are pointing out instead of towards the center or strait ahead.

There is no right to left adjustment that I know of. Do you possibly have the brackets on backwards or something like that?

I don’t think so...could just be me. Looking at this picture the fogs do seem to hit where is expect them too. When I was driving it just seemed they were aimed wrong.
Guess if there is no left to right adjust they must be pretty close.

Yes these do have a lot of light that shines to the sides.

    Inside of the mount goes into the slots, so the only way to 'aim' them side to side would be to adjust either the foam on the inside tabs (front or back of the tab) or using washers on the outside screw holes;

There is a little up and down adjustment from the side of the squadron mount.

I have Combos and put them in per instructions - they are pretty much dead on straight ahead..

The foam that cam with mine didn’t even stick(if were talking about the same thing). I’m thinking like you said, with the brackets in place, they should be good. Just up and down adjustments.
