    Interesting and pretty much the same concerns and low risk in Baja. Sure, something could happen to you in Mexico... but it could also happen to you in America, so you going to lock yourself inside the rest of your life in fear?

    I have an American friend who lives full time down in Cozumel. No doubt there's drug violence, and what's happening to Mexican citizens caught in the crossfire is a great national tragedy for that country. But they are not targeting tourists.

    Kidnappings for ransom are all about the money. But the cartels are billion dollar organizations. Money they have. And they also know if they started targeting tourists, it's a sure way to invite the US military to join the fight. No way in hell they want that.
