Thanks guys for the interest into this issue. Sergio, I notice the "denting" at all four mounts. It is most pronounced on the front mounts but is present at all the mounts.

I did tighten the mounts down tight. I do not think loosening them up will fix the issue as they would have to be very loose to not push on the roof. I do not know what Baja Racks is considering to address the issue but I think it would require a redesign of the mounts so that the portion of the mount that interfaces with the drip rail would sit lower. I am guessing that for the weight to be distributed to the roof frame the "legs" of the mounts would have to be at an angle or if they need to remain straight, the top bracket could be extended to meet the rack bolt holes. Either way the bottom of the mounts would need to be smaller or profiled on the inside as they are on the outside.
Here is what I am talking about.

I have no doubt that Sergio and Baja Racks will get this issue addressed. There customer service has been first rate. Sergio, feel free to contact me if you need any additional information.

    Hello Guys,

Today we were able to duplicate the issue that Molon has on his roof and made changes to the bracket design to avoid this issue in the future even if the bolts are too tight or the rack gets loaded with over 200 Lb. I will post pictures of the new brackets laterthis week and we will replace all the brackets that are in circulation.

    Kindregards

I actually have the same problem with mine. I just bolted it up on Saturday. I dont think made it too tight because if I didnt bolt it down this much there was movement in the bracket. I didnt notice till I was bolting down the other side and tried to unbolt it to pop it out, but I dont think its popping out. I am super bummed that it is not coming out and there really needs to be a solution to this problem. I think the picture above is the right solution.. with another 90 bent in the bracket for the other side.

It sure looks good, but, 600LB on the roof rack? That will rise the center of gravity on you-re truck to a very dangerous high. Totally unsafe.

Just heard from Sergio at BajaRack and he is taking care of everything. Anyone who is waiting for the new brackets to come out before they buy a rack doesnt have to worry because they will be done with the new brackets next week. Thank you Sergio!

BTW, I have received several PMs asking how I wired the lights. I have not wired the lights yet. I hope to do it in the next few weeks. Once I get it done, I will do a Writeup on how I do it. I will post it in the lighting thread but I will link to it from this thread. So if you are subbed, you will know when its been completed. I will also shoot more pics of the complete installation once I get the new mountings.

    Thanks for the interest.
