Well I just got the new brackets and bolted them on. The new brackets are great and look like they will work just fine. I still have a dent that will not pop out and need to email Sergio to get this problem resolved. I am glad the brackets are good, but super bummed about the dent. It shows even more because the brackets do hang over like the old ones.

Go ahead and order up the Baja Rack now that the brackets are good!

Ok, well as hatch017 has already discovered, the dents are still there after the rack is removed.
Here is a pic of the dent
    A20_17a5e882db7d39ec9888bda4d8b60ed47c6b81d2.jpg
Here is a closer picture. As you can see the dent is very pronounced. It looks like there is a slight deformation of the rain drip rail lip as well.

Not only is there a dent on the inside of the roof towards the center of the roof but there is also a very pronounced linear crease on the outer section of the roof closer to the door. I have an appointment with Painless Dent Removal for a quote on Saturday. I e-mailed them these pictures and they said it would be at least $300.00 but that they needed to see the damage to provide a proper quote. They also said they are not sure the outer linear creases can be fixed without a traditional paint repair. Once I have a quote I will let you guys know what I come up with. I am asking everyone who has the dents to send me a PM so that we can compair notes.

    Damn, that's rough.

Do the new feet change the load rating? And would the flat rack handle a RTT?

No change to the load rating... from what I understand it is the weight of the rack (flat rack ~40lbs?) minus the total weight capacity... so 200-40 = 160lbs. So if the RTT is 160 or less you should be alright. This is Toyotas weight limit for the roof of the truck, the baja rack could hold more weight no problem.

That is the dynamic weight capacity but I don't know what the static capacity is because you have to factor one or two people in the tent as well..

Yeah BajaRack has been dropping the ball or something. I didnt receive the ax/shovel mount, the check for the 15% group buy discount, and still havent heard from them about the dent issue. I do think the paintless dent removal is the best option and the cheapest.

hatch, From an out-of-the-office email notification I know Sergio is out of the office until September 25th. I'd advise calling into the office for assistance if you haven't already. I had called in last week and John took care of me.

Thanks for the pics of the new mounts. Hope everything with the roof dents works out as painlessly as possible.

Hello everyone, Well I had the dents removed by painless dent removal. They are not perfect but I guess it will have to do.

I am not happy about the dents on a 3 month old truck with only 1500 miles but it is, what it is.

On a good note, Baja Racks has agreed to reimburse me the dent repair cost. I said it in the first post of this thread. Baja Racks is a costumer service oriented company and their products are great. Also, the new brackets arrived this past week. So I am in the process of determining all the lighting for the rack and I will do a complete installation write up in the next week or two.
I want to thank everyone for the interest in this thread.
