I've been pondering changing my bed rack to a roof rack. I carry a 28' ladder occasionally and now that I have a shorter bed my ladder only rest on about 4'. Leaving a couple feet off the back and too much up front causing the ladder to be very noisy. So with that said, I'm trying to get away from the noise, and am wondering how much noise is created by the flat rack by baja. As my truck sits now without the ladder loaded, the t-rac doesn't make any sounds that I'm aware of. Any owners out there care to comment, thanks in advance.

Cool, I've heard of whistling noises with some roof & bed racks. Overall do you like your baja rack, worth the $, and yes I would be selling my current bed rack and possible my tool box.

I have had the flat utility Bajarack on my truck for over a year now. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and it has added great flexibility and versatility to my truck. I paid extra to the the expanded steel mesh floor. It's actually very quiet. No whistles, rattles, vibrations or other weird sensations. I had initial fitment issues with the brackets and some issues with rust, but Bajarack addressed and took care of all my issues to date.

I regularly use mine to transport camping gear.

Here is a pic from install day where I was test fitting a ladder and a popup canopy.

Just get one of those Werner ladders that folds into 4 sections and no rack needed. I have the 22' and it is very versatile. My brother has the same one and is a roofer, said he can get onto almost any roof with it.

Crom...thanks for the info, I believe it was your write up that I just read.

Tex...wish I could, actually have many ladders, but the 28' is for work in the cable industry and must be fiberglass. It also has all the safety stuff, pole notch, hooks, and levelers.

Pelfreybilt makes a pretty nice roof rack that you could check out.... Baja utility rack and a front runner are 2 companies you should look at if you want a flat rack?

I like the pelfreybilt but want to stay as low as possible that why my interest is in the baja. The frontrunner is awesome but way too much for me. I just sold my other truck today, so now I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger. If I do thou it will eat into my tire fund until I can unload the current rack

you will have noise,i have the rack and light cage on mine..it's been on the truck for 2 yrs, you'll notice it at first, but with the windows up and radio on you won't notice it...it's not a big deal for me,i usually ride with windows down and no radio...it really dosen't bother me.if you're already carrying a utility ladder its not going to matter that much, the ladder will generate more noise than the rack.

The noise level I'm wondering about would be unloaded, I do find I get use to the malamute howling sound my ladder makes rolling down the road. I may just go oem and make a spacer of some sort for the current rack to level it out with oem.

I recall reading here that the OEM rack makes plenty of noise if the cross bars are deployed. Try searching the forums to find more reports from others...

whoa, 75lbs, that a game changer, not that the ladder would be a problem but that isn't much and I would like to be able to utilize it when we go to the beach and camping for luggage.

My rtt is over 100lbs and it hasnt given me any problems whatsoever and it's mounted on the OEM roof rack, i think those ratings are buffer to save toyotas ass.

I agree after some research on here, I think it has to do more with vehicle stability while in motion for the limit but seems to be some saying more capacity.

Here's what options I've come up with

oem with current rack and setup - couple hundred, issue with ladder solved but would still need a basket for road trips.

baja with hitch T, sell current setup - 700ish then minus whatever I get out current

trade it in on a long bed, lmao

I started pricing these last night, anyone know the best price on these, shipping was crazy at trdpart4u, now baja has a 10% off for the holidays, so it's looking like direct is the ticket but wanted to make sure before dropping the dough.
