Still not seeing where the OP's OG and subsequent posts indicate anything racist. His is a legit question, the same as whether the Silverado manufactured in MI, OH, or IN is better. But, in the end it is a fruitless question as only Toyota knows as they are in the feedback loop. We are not.

Not sure why people get all up in arms about being built in USA via Texas, seems like they are always wanting to secede from the Union and hate the rest of the US. Have been to Texas a few times, what an awful awful place with a lot of egotistical assholes. Have been to Mexico a bunch too, some of the nicest people I have ever met.

Most of the human element has been removed from the manufacturing process anyways, doesn’t really matter where it is built.

I am from Texas. Never said anything about making trucks in Texas. No need to insult people or their state. I didn’t insult yours. I didn’t insult Mexico. Be nice. Texas is lovely place with many different kinds of people and lands. Assuming something negative about 30 million people is really bold.

Never had any good experiences in Texas when I was there, wouldn’t take it personally. Had nothing but good when I go to Mexico is all I am saying. I don’t have allegiance to any state. Some I enjoy, others I avoid like the plague…like Texas.

My experiences just on how was treated Texas vs Mexico, much rather my truck built in Mexico.

I don't care who builds it, if it's 100% automated, where it's built, union or non-union shop. I don't care. I would rather by products produced in the USA, but if I wanted to buy a new Tacoma or a heavy duty Ram that was built in Mexico, that wouldn't stop me from buying one.

2021 Taco built in Baja, coming from
an 08 Tacoma built in Texas. I am a pretty OCD person and went looking for something to find on my new Tacoma to be out of place and I gotta say the fit and finish of the vehicle is pretty much flawless. Driver side interior door panel with window controls and upper dash area feel like cheap/shitty plastic but that’s not an assembly issue just poor Choice on Toyota’s part. I’d agree with the thought that the Baja factory has been cranking out Tacoma’s for a long time. I feel like they know what they’re doing.

Think being built in the US is over-rated. Sure it provides jobs, but is the quality really there?

Though do think arguing over where a Japanese company builds their vehicles is ironic…

I don't know what the US has to do with current Toyota Tacoma production as that no longer exists. I'd most likely prefer a Mexican built Hilux, over US built Tacoma. I like the Hilux more.

My preference for current Midsize trucks available in the US is the Ford Ranger, Ford offers a combination of packages and features that I prefer on a midsize truck. That no other manufacturer offers, and at a MSRP that is less than the competition with out all of those options and features.

Like I said wouldn’t take it personally, not my fault you live there, I just don’t like Texas for many reasons, especially their recent antics and over the last couple years, secede please…

Think it is that pride built in the US thing some guys on and on about. Betcha most of the workforce in the Texas plant are Hispanic.

I like the Ranger, built one out at the dealer before I bought my Tacoma, fairly basic…rear seat delete, locker and not much else, it was maybe within $2000 price difference, not enough to pull me from Toyota. Maybe if it had a NA V6 (diesel would of been even better) and manual trans, it would of made the decision harder.

But being rude is definitely your fault. And if you’re too dense to get it, that’s not mine.

I already have a Texas built 2nd gen, If I didn't already have a Toyota truck. I think I would be more inclined to buy a 3rd gen Tacoma.

Guess it is all about perception if you think that is being rude, cause I sure don’t. You do know it is ok not to like places and people, yeah? I surely don’t get offended if people don’t like the places I lived, the people there or me personally.

My 1st Gen was built in California. California would be a nice place if it weren’t for all the people. :p:D

Its not a racist question, but when you ask northern Mexicans what they think of central or southern Mexicans you’d get responses that would make an 1850s Missippi white man puke. So, its as racist as asking what is making petroleum so expensive is political. It aint but it inherently is.

Also, you’d think its all standardized, and it is, but having floor managers who have worked in the plant for 15 years under a that GM that worked in the plant for 15 years as a floor manager does make a difference.

I know how it sounds, but it’s been tested- people run their air conditioning less in lighter colored cars and save more gas:

    https://escholarship.org/uc/item/2zd3m0kr

Some engineering studies also show how they can use more efficient (smaller) AC units in cars that use less solar heat absorbing paint colors to save even more fuel.

I used to work outside in the desert all year and have always gone for light colored rentals and for my purchased cars too; I really don’t care how they look so much as I do how comfortable they are!

Obviously you haven't been to connecticut, ny or nj. I've been to texas several times. I'd rather deal with the folks there far more than the assholes we have up here.
