463AE4F6-427A-4B75-AC20-FE232A07E035.jpg This is the amount of water that gets into my bed after an overnight rain with the Bakflip Mx4 cover. This is my second cover under warranty. Has anyone else experienced this or have a fix for it?

That’s odd. I have had two Bakflips on two different trucks and even driving at highway speeds during the most torrential rains I only ever had a very tiny amount of water get into the bed.

I just put one on and it’s been through the car wash several times. There was a tiny bit of water in there, but nothing like what you are showing.

Just not sealing well on the sides. Whether that be to installation or whatnot. Can lay a thin bead of sealer down and see if it helps

I have had mine for 5 years and live in the lower mainland of B.C. We get what seems like 400 days of rain a year here. I have not seen that much water under the cover even after a torrential downpour. I do get some water in there, but I never bothered to do anything extra to seal it up. I just installed it as it came.

My first one was installed professionally and it leaked the same way. Bakflip suggested taking it off and reinstalling it which didn’t help so they sent me a complete new one. This one is loaded up with silicone and you see how much water gets in. The truck was parked when the water got in.

Yeah mines been like that too. It’s quite annoying. I’m very disappointed to be honest.

Can't expect a bone dry bed, I'm happy as a clam with mine.

i had one on my last Tacoma that was totaled. Started out dry as a bone and by the time it was totaled two years later it looked like OP’s. Hesitant to buy a new one, leaning towards something else.

My issue is it pops open when off-roading.

I have had 2, and neither leaked that bad. Not waterproof by any means, but still keeps things pretty dry.

Their solution to the problem is to send out another cover. Their covers must be cheap if they are willing to keep sending them to me. I’ve asked for a refund.

I get a few small amount of moisture with my BakFlip. Anything that must stay dry gets put in a tub or plastic bag.

I got mine used, 2018 mfg I think, and it leaks like that. After some effort it’s mostly sealed now.

Butyl tape is good stuff that feels like sticky playdo that doesn’t dry. Putting that down to fill all gaps was the trick. Especially up at the front there is a big gap under the bed side rails.

The other big problem was actually the top texture of the bed side rail caps creating little gaps along the side with the cover rail seal. I would suggest the first and easiest is to add the butyl tape to the underside of the cover rails about where the rubber meets the aluminum. Look where it touches the bed cap before taking off because there is a gap with the bed and the tape needs to be squished to work. It also leaks along the header section so same thing up there.
That might get you to a happy moist place, or go all out right away and tape under the bed rail caps too.

Thank you for your suggestions. I actually applied silicone to the under side of their rails before installation. Yesterday morning I installed the new replacement cover and it rained last night. New cover same problem. I’ve asked for a refund and they told me that they won’t give one. They just keep sending me new covers like that’s cheaper!

I've had mine for little over a year. It leaked for several months after purchasing it, sealing various areas with foam tape, etc. Then, almost like magic, it stopped leaking. It hasn't leaked for about 6 months or so. I don't know if it had to settle in the sun or what, but now it is as good as my G2 I had on my Tundra that was leak proof from the start.

The only problem I have with it is on the second joint on the driver's side, the little block at the fold pops out every time I fold it back. I have to pop it back in for it to lay flat it I fold it up that far (which is infrequent).

I have a Bak Flip Mx4 on my 19 SR-5 very disappointed with it. The seals where the cover folds are giving up, I contacted them due to one of the plastic corner broke they sent me the part, the mounting bolts, the exposed heads on them the paint is faded. I wouldn’t buy Bak Flip again.
