I have a bakflip F1 for a long bed. The FRP has worn out due to solar exposure (presents as faded finishes and fiberglass strands starting to be visible). Bak industries, in seemingly typical fashion honored their customer service commitment and warranty and has replaced the cover with the new MX4. In any case I have an otherwise working cover without rails that may be useful to someone out there. Free for handoff in Los Angeles area. This will Find a home in the landfill if nobody is interested. Cheers!

How long did this last thinking about getting a backflip?

first one was installed days after buying the truck brand new November 2012. It seemed to last a decent amount of time despite not using the Aerospace protectant they suggested. That one was replaced early summer 16' and the one I'm giving away became not tolerable by November. FRP is a lousy material choice for withstanding damage from the sun. The one they recently replaced with is called the MX4 which is a texture powder coated aluminum. Fit and finish is better with the MX4 so far and I am much more confident in it finish longevity. Functionally zero difference. BTW, someone PMd for this old one and is tentatively no longer available.

Thank you for taking time to reply.

I am looking for a cover that will last but moreso keep stuff really dry. I have read that many of these covers have leaks. How was the water protection?

Far from leak proof. I definatlye think twice about what I put back there especially if parked outside for the night during the rain. I'm in southern CA so rain is not a huge issue. The only near perfect cover I had personal experienc with was on my dads truck. He had a leer topper that had glass separation at the can and did not solely rely on a rubber compression there. FWIW, most of the leaking comes at the tailgate.
