Have a bakflip on my 13 Tacoma. The top layer of covering over the panel hinges has cracked, exposing a white fabric underneath. Looks like the water infiltration has started deteriorating the the base material of the panels. I haven't stripped the cover layer off yet, and was wondering what the panels are made of. It feels like MDF or aspenite with the way it seems to be rotting and losing structural integrity. (buckled, bellied and generally spongy). Notes to the manufacturer have gone unanswered.
This is startling, given the favorable comments on these covers.
Has anyone else experienced this failure, or have any idea if it can be salvaged?
The cover was installed new in late 13 or early 14, and garaged most of the time since.
    Thanks B-13

Have you contacted Bakflip? I'm actually in REE market for a hard folding trifold tonneau. I'm leaning toward the mx4.

Yes, but no reply. I tried patching it with a rubber-like under coating (flexshield?), but that cracked, too. Finally used black duct tape,
layered, and it's not leaking. I wish I could tell you the model name/number.
