Hi all! Hoping to get help on the MX4 install. The mfg supplied supplemental install instructions says to apply the enclosed 1/4" foam weather strip on the bulkhead. This seems to drastically increase the gap between the bulkhead and the short panel. I took the weather strip off and it seems way better, however the short panel still doesnt fit flush between the bulkhead and the MX4 side rails. Slight gap. Has anyone else experienced the same? What did you do? Thought I'd check here since bakflip tech help is closed until Monday. Thanks for listening.

Others have posted their header plate was elevated like that. My 2021 is level.

Just remove your bulkhead header and elongate the mounting holes. Problem solved.

I didn't use the strip on the bulkhead. The corners of the MX4 with the already supplied weather strip are an updated version and will "settle" down after they heat up in the sun a few times.

Mine was like that when I still had it, never got it to not leak. Even with a generous amount of rtv on the sealing surfaces.

Thanks for the pic. Likewise, deleted the bulkhead strip. Still have some gap, plan to set in the sun and then tighten down further. BAK Tech said to trim the 90 degree foam on bottom of the corner cap to get a better seal. I'm not going to do that yet. Wait & See mode for now.

I installed it on the vertical facing surface that faces toward the tailgate. Seals up against it when I push the cover into it and tighten it down. I also did a ton of extra foam, sealing, tailgate weatherstripping. It leaks a TON until you seal it up and it will still leak a little bit, but good enough.

Could always just grab a tube of sikka flex black 221 and fill the gap... I don't have the bakflip but am running a tonneau and that's what I am going to do to seal the bed up as the instructions for mine came with the same foam pads and directions to "seal up the bulkhead". My 221 should be here sometime this week. I am going to get everything to sit as flush as I can and then seal up the little bits that don't sit tight. It does fairly well keeping rain out but I still have some leaks with higher pressure water. Overall tho, can't complain about how it fits to the bed.

I didn't use the extra foam either. It only leaks at the tailgate.
