So I installed my Bakflip MX4 about 3 weeks ago, and last week we had a ton of rain. I knew it was not completely water tight, but after some trouble shooting this past weekend I realized the the rails are about 1/2 short on both sides. Can someone post some pictures of their installs to compare to mine. I have reached out to Bakflip and the "tech support" seems to think I am crazy. My opinion, if you have both side of your mounting hardware too short to cover the maximum distance of your bed... they were cut too short... I have attached two pictures, one with a flashlight on in my bed, and one with the flashlight off.. in daylight. You can clearly see the light. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, it sucks.. great product, i had the same issue with metal shavings, and the finished product isn't "finished". @Bakflip they don't even paint the ends black after they cut them, so you have silver ends with a black rail system. This cost me $1,000 roughly, they have a great product with ALOT of potential but don't finish it out. AND their "tech support" is horrible.

I just installed mine over the weekend. I ran the foam they give you for the front along the side of the tailgate right up to the bottom of the rail. I also used foam instead of sealant under the rails, as per the other post. After a flood with the pressure washer to get the metal shavings off i only had a few drops at the back. Going out for maiden rain voyage tomorrow so we shall see.

These tonneau's aren't perfect. One would think they should be after spending so much dough on them. I went through 2 covers and settled on my extang. I tried to make them as water proof as possible in the beginning. Then I just learned to accept it and deal with a little leaking during storms. I always keep a rubbermaid under the tonneau to keep the things I need to stay dry.

Before buying my MX4 i read up on all the install and fit concerns so was prepared...with a whole tube of black silicon. Installed, silicon on the parts that didnt fit right and BAHM. done. I do wish Bak would take a bit more time the tender lovin' care department before sending these out for people to purchase but even with the cut short pieces, metal shavings, and other crap, It is the Best Cover ive ever had.

Yes, when I originally received my MX4, it was missing the mounting hardware, so i had to wait about 6 days before the hardware came in the mail. So first impression was not good, and then the laid'd back "tech support", have me super frustrated. I do believe the rails are about 1/2 too short after looking at several other brand of tri-fold covers. But Bakflip swears they are the correct length.

Yes I got one tooo. Had all the parts and looks good, but, like most covers it leaks, I gotta put the foam under the rails but gotta figure something for the tailgate sides. I told BaK about the problems but no fixes yet. Hopefully they'll come up with a fix for the tailgate sides, don't want to run foam up there.....otherwise great cover and MORI gave me free shipping to Hawaii.....

Aloha, I'm also looking at purchasing an MX4 but I can't find anyone that will ship to Hawaii. Amazon won't even ship it to Oahu. Who shipped yours for free? Mahalo!
