I just got my new MX4 installed and double checked every install step. We had a pretty hard rain today for about an hour, so I just went out to see how it did. I am very disappointed... I didn't expect this thing to be 100% waterproof but it really let in a LOT of water.

How much water 'should' this cover be allowing to enter the truck bed? Like I said, I'm not expecting a water tight submarine seal, but this is a lot of water.

did the manufacturer say it was waterproof or did you assume , also they have seals available to try and stop water from coming in

None of the tonneau covers on the market are 100% waterproof. I've got the Bakflip X4S and it's better than I expected as far as waterproofing, but not perfect.

If you do a search on the forums you'll see several write ups on the MX4 as far as adding silicone and gaskets to improve the water resistance.

Water is hard to see in the images.

But that second image seems to show quite a bit of standing water. If so, you shouldn’t be seeing that with a proper install.

Watch some videos, ensure it was installed properly. Add some more seal from Amazon.

If you’re still having issues, reach out to Bakflip for support. Is always possible something is faulty in the cover.

The very first image shows all the water droplets that ran down the inside side of the bed, I'm thinking maybe the rain was coming down faster than the drains could work.

I see the water, it’s more gauging how bad it is. My Lomax cover can leak at the 4 corners of the bed in heavier rains. Really depends on the storm and whether I am driving or not.

Imo water is to be expected to a certain degree on the sides of the bed. It’s not 100% waterproof.

But if you’re getting a significant amount of water in the middle of the bed, that’s a big no no.

I have noticed with mine, if you don't park with front of truck slightly down hill. The drains can't keep up. Also truck bedrail caps allow water in. I removed sealed them, and as well as MX4 rails.

I have the soft Tri Fold and it is always bone dry even after going through car wash. Not sure on the hard cover but the price difference you would think the hard cover would be waterproof. just saying

I'm going to let it dry, take the mounting rails off and apply a bead of RTV under them. That appears to be the weak point allowing water in under the rails.

When mine was installed a few weeks ago, I questioned the seal under the rail as it seemed to have gaps. His comment was to give it time in the sun. Well- it's 115 degrees here and it now looks like it seals better. I hosed it down & only water I have is at tailgate. Leaks less than my Leer on my 2nd gen does.

Sounds good, I'll be patient, it's not quite that hot but we live in Missouri and have a southern facing driveway. Trick lives outdoors so I'll give it time and test again. Thanks!
