Ya I did the part by the pads, did 4 spots on each side where the texture goes flat. Still leaking. And I'm even getting drips in between the folds

Installed my MX4 yesterday using a hybrid of tips found here. No leaks whatsoever on siderails or front! I still need to get a tailgate seal for the sides of the gate.

Removed the crap seal off the front rail and replaced it with 1/8"x1/4" closed cell foam from Canadian Tire.

Split the red-backed seal that comes with the kit. Installed one side as-is under the side rail per Tekoma's instructions. Bit of a tight fit that required some trimming.

On the other side, I trimmed the sides off the seal (1/16" off either side of the backing tape) to make it 1/4" only. This fit much better and required less strong arming.

Looked for light in the front corners from underneath and filled gaps with RTV.

    I like it.[IMG]

This was too wide. Trim the sides off the seal.

    Retain your floor space!

Hi!! The ones who bought the mx4 directly from bak webpage, how much time does the shipping process took?

I bought mine from another online store and it was dropped shipped within a few days so I imagine directly with bakflip would be similar. I would also check the group buy threads for auto anything and see what pricing is like with them.

    Nothing yet....im a poor bastard.
@socal4x Are your Relentless bed rail mounts just hanging? I installed a bakflip mx4 and havent put my mounts back in yet. Was thinking about having new holes cut so the bottom would still sit where it was designed to.

What do you mean about the seal you put on the rail being too
    Wide?
I just got one sent to me so I'm going to try this method to hopefully stop the leaking

In the picture where I say the seal was too wide, trim that foam seal (before sticking it down). Trim the approx 1/16" overhangs from both sides of the red peel-off tape. The seal gets stuck to the bottom of the Bakflip side rail (shown upside down in picture, before installation), not to the truck.

Be sure to crawl up to the front corners after rail install and look up and forward from floor level to check for light coming in. There will be some. Glop some silicone on your finger and stick it up there to fill any light entry points.

Have fun! It's pretty easy and doesn't take very much longer to do it properly.

I get all that just don't really get what you mean when you say the seal is too wide. How is it too
Wife if it's under the rubber?

It's simply too much material. Trust me and cut it, or make the same mistake I did - your call. All you really need is a 1/16" or 1/8" wide seal but I can't be bothered to trim 10' of seal to those tolerances, and besides it would start to roll over on itself.

So I can basically pull the 2 apart and cut one down the middle to do both rails?

I think we have different rails. Urs doesn't look like the one I have at all

I just put an MX4 on mine - what did you use the RTV for?

Or start the screw by hand and screw it in a few threads.

Spray some silicone spray on the seal that contacts the top of the tailgate - will make closing the tailgate much easier with flip down, and keep the rubber seal from wearing.

So those thin rubber seals with ridges go on the BOTTOM of each side of the top? Maybe that's why mine is leaking so bad. Glad I saved them. Didn't see ANY instructions for putting those seals on this video!

EDIT: discostu - your rails look NOTHING like mine!!
