I had one on my F-150 and it was alright. It would occasionally leak, requiring me to fix seals and the rubber gaskets were about due to be replaced after a few years. I also had problems with the latching mechanism rusting out and seizing, but some tri flow and graphite fixed it right up. Overall it's a pretty good cover and handled some abuse. Most of my issues were due to negelect. I'm more of a fan of the rolling covers (revolver) on the Tacoma, but it really depends on your needs. Occasionally 4WheelParts will have the Bak covers on sale in-store, but that depends on where you are located.

Not trying to sway you from the bakflip.. but have you looked at Gator? I just installed the FX last night, its made by bak, and the nice thing is you get to keep your side rails. they reattach to the mounts. Took about an hour from start to finish.. since this was my second purchase (totaled truck) paid 704.00 free shipping.

 

I haven’t looked at them yet. My main reason for wanting the Bakflip is that I can access all of the bed since it stands up against the back window

 

Either give the guys over at Bakflip a call or reach out through their online messaging platform. They were really helpful when I purchased mine and may be able to offer you some sort of discount if you ask - never hurts to ask!

 

I bought mine there almost 2 years ago on sale ($100 off) plus a $100 mail-in rebate from BakFlip. So it ended up costing me “only” $799

 

The Gator FX is exactly the Bakflip. Folds up against the window. if you want to remove it just take two knobs off and lift the cover off.

 

Always check Marketplace or Craigslist. I picked my last one up for $500.00, guy only had it for a year and sold his truck.

 

I've had the BAKFLIP MX4 since I bought the truck 2 years ago. I love it. The aluminum panels are solid and load-bearing, so you can put weight on them when closed. I got my bed cross bars from KBVOODOO. They make them compatible with the bed cover. Easy to remove if I need to fold the bed cover up.
