so far so good. very little water in the bed. I keep the truck in the garage mostly so its not out in the pouring rain all that much. so far very happy with the purchase.

    rbenner89,
I know that you are supposed to remove the accessory rail on the back of the bed to install the Roll-X cover. The problem is that I have to keep that rail installed (I have bed lights rigged underneath it). In your opinion is there any way to leave the rail installed and still install the Roll-X? Maybe with some modifications to either the Roll-X rails or to the acc rail in the back of the bed? Also how far back from the window does it extend when it is rolled up? 10"-12"?

    Hey Rustysix-
1- i would estimate that when rolled up it extends about 8-10 inches.
2- i don't think u can install it with the posterior rail. I have bed lights in my truck also and i stuck my Led strip along the back just above the ridges of the bed liner and it works great. check out the pic when the rollx is down flat

i also included a pic of it rolled up so you can estimate the roll depth.

    hope that helps

Has anyone else had any slight fitment issues with the roll-x? It seems like when you install the rails all the way back in the rail, the spring mounted latch gets stuck, and when you move them forward I cant close the tailgate all the way.

I have one now for 4 months. Yes the fitment issue is common, I had to adjust and move it forward and back countless times to get that perfect fit where it covered the tailgate and was still over the rear of the bed rail. Yes you can still run the rear bed rail, you might have to take it off first and install the cover then reinstall it afterwards. Customer service front them is pretty poor in my case. I called for two reasons, the fitment issue and I had one of the straps that hold the cover rolled open break the first time I used it. I emailed with no response then called and they said they never received it and there was nothing they can do, wow thanks BakFlip Roll-X. Other than that, with a little extra work it turned out nice and works well.

Just dont pull it too tight, I broke one off already.

Before I lock the end in I "flap it like a blanket" to align the tracks and flatten them out.

Has anyone else has trouble with the "teeth" on each side matching up like they are supposed to?

Does anyone have any tie down solutions with their Roll-X? I know BAK sells a set of 4 for $50, any other solutions. I was thinking about getting the Dodge Cargo D-rings from from the "Installed D-Rings Mod" and bolting them in with the BAK side rail bolts. Anyone done anything like this?

Is the Roll-X easy to remove if I need the full bed space? The flip covers seem quick to remove but I haven't read anything about this one.

It's not too hard to remove. There are 2 bolts on either side and the top comes right off. I wouldn't want to be taking it on and off all the time though, it takes a bit of time to reinstall (getting it realigned and adjusted so that it seals front and back). When rolled it has a diameter of about 9" for the 5' cover 6' is probably closer to 10" or so.

Could any of you guys pull a measurement of the storage height in the bed with the roll - x closed? I wonder if it is lower than the regular bakflip covers. I have several storage bins that fit under the regular style bakflip perfectly. Also, how is the vinyl cover on the roll -x holding up? That seems to be the weak part of the design to me.

I agree with the lack of customer service. First, I had a star nut break and cause my backflip to disengage and fall into the bed and scrape the back window. Then some weeks ago the cover totally self-destructed on my way home from work. This did wonders for the paint as it was clinging to the rubber seal and smashing into the bed side as I was stopping. Bakflip was not even concerned as I have had the cover since 2009.

At the lowest point (the handle) the clearance is 16", everywhere else measures 17". Both measurements taken with Toyota factory bed mat installed. As for the vinyl, I have had no trouble with it, but I have had my cover less than a year and I live in sunny California.

Rusty, Thank you for the quick reply. I will pull a tape when I get off of work. I have to replace the cover before I leave this job site for home. Good to hear about the vinyl, the only substantial warranty from Bakflip is on the F1 cover.

Looks like they will work. Thanks for taking the time. I see a roll x in the near future.

I'm also interested to know. Still can't decide which cover to get, but the Roll-x is top of my list so far.

if anyone is concerned about water getting into their bed, the bakflips "will" leak. I had two (G2 and the rollbak). I wound up getting an undercover SE which looks great on the truck and for me, has been BONE dry. Just my .02
