I’ve posted in other threads about this but I’ve been having balance issues for a long time now. Got new FN fx pro wheels and falken wildpeaks installed together and I’ve had shake ever since. 1 tire got replaced for being too out of round after a few thousand miles and several balances. That didn’t work. Still had shake. Went to 3 other places trying for a better balance. They were road forced at each place. Stopped with discount tire, they got it the best but still had a little shake and tried several times. Tried getting an alignment too.. they said everything was nice and tight. After probably 10 balances all together over 20k miles this last time I finally gave up and tried new tires. STILL had some steering shake. After 2 balances and rotations in the same weekend I decided to put stock wheels back on. Seemed good for a day maybe.. shaking again. Not terrible, but shaking nonetheless. I’m trying to upload vid clips that show tire movement and the old wheels movement but it won’t allow it. I don’t know what to do. Going in tomorrow for another balance

Are you sure you don't have a bent axle?

Yeah. I think both vids were on the front. I’ve taken videos on all four corners and all four tires and all 4 wheels though and vids of just the rotors and drums. But the tire vid is on a stock wheel

Ok, I went somewhere else, and they checked the front end, said it was fine. that's two places now saying the front is good. Rebalanced the tires.. all 4 were out a little. Even though I just had it balanced 3 days before., and road force was out of their spec on one. It was 28, their max is 26, so they spun the tire on the wheel, and got it down to 9. Another was 25, another 18, another 10. Discount tire is 35lbs max.. soo, that's something to consider when they tell you its good,, look at the specs. I cant find any issues anywhere with rotors, axles, hubs, etc. everything spins true, except the tires. You can see the tire movements in the videos. they all do it. I don't know what to do. I still have a 30 day comfort warranty on the tires, so im having them order some cooper at3 4s. I don't see how, when looking at all the different tires and aggressive tires people run here, that no one has every had any issues like this.. what am I supposed to do? im on the verge of selling the truck, because I have stupid issues like this that don't make any sense, and no one seems to have a clue, and it just keeps costing me more and more money to figure out absolutely nothing

Going with different tires will definitely tell what could possibly be wrong. If you don't have this issue when you install and balance the Cooper's then you know it was the Wildpeaks. If the issue still exists then it might be that there is an issue with the wheels and\or it's something else. Hopefully getting new tires will solve your problem. Good luck

This will actually be the third set of tires on two different sets of wheels.., wildpeaks, then Goodyear ultraterrain, and now going to coopers. Stock sport wheels, and FN fx pro wheels. No one can tell me anything

im honestly thinking maybe they don't know what they are really doing at discount, giving me improper balance, and therefore causes abnormal tire wear that is irreversible. They've never mentioned anything about moving tires on the wheels.. and they told me they had no way to measure wheel runout or anything. that's what road force balancing is supposed to do!

I am having the same issue with a new set of wheels and Wildpeaks. On top of the fact they scratched my wheel, with the road force machine.... they can’t get it into spec and it acts the same wAy... so frustrating

Why did you not like the Goodyear ultra terrain?

Are these tire shops using the Toyota Haweka adapter when installing the tires on the rims ?
does the vibration change when you put the rear tires on the front of the truck ?
Are you using hub centric rings ? Or are they lug centric ?
How did you make out with the torque converter bolts ?

I watched your video . The steering wheel of my truck shakes more than yours .
Tire shops hate Tacoma,s because they are incredibly difficult to balance

I was watching a video the other day and thought about your truck . The vibrations on his truck in the video were caused by a camshaft chain . The drivers side overhead cam was slightly misaligned . They had to use a lab scope to see the problem and there were no trouble codes stored

I would say yes.. change out the tires and it was a non-issue

Tires CAN wear off new square edges more per mile in their eary stages and not always evenly. . Hence balance CAN change early then settle into even wear. Depends on tire. Depends on driver. Depends on road. Depends on psi.

New tires almost always feel different.

Also. Rotate. See if problem moves with tire.

ive been rotating them every which way, vibes change, but never go away. its hard to tell in the vid honestly.. But its constant side to side motion. Wheels are stock right now, but were FN fx pro wheels before, and are hubcentric. not real sure about the howeka adapter. I asked them, they said they have different adapters they can use,, but it was in reference to balancing, not mounting.. And he called them finger plates, so im not real sure if he knew what I was talking about or not. had the front end aligned again, and everything checked out. everything is nice and tight. haven't messed with the converter yet. Hard to find a chance where I can do without the truck for a while if need be. The hum/rumble strip type thing around 1800 seems to be getting worse though.. Makes me want to just drive around in 4th. Feels like im driving a lawnmower around. I think im going to first try cleaning and adjusting the lockup solenoid and see what happens for that particular vibe. Should I order a gasket and such for the pan? Interesting about the cam chain. How would you even find that? and who would I even try to take it too?
