Im buying some tires this week. Im trying to decide between Cooper ST maxx, Cooper STT pro and Falken at3w.

I've read good things about the Coopers. But I talked to a guy the other day that had the Falken ATs and used to have the Coopers. He said he and a couple of his friends had a lot of trouble keeping the Coopers balanced. Both the MTs and the ATs. Not big either, 285s.
Has anyone else had this problem with Coopers?

I run Coopers (Adventurer A/T), and they're good. I'm coming up on two years and 30,000 miles. I hear the more aggressive ones can cup if you don't stay on top of your alignment and PSI. But that's normal ownership and maintenance stuff. As long as your a responsible owner, you shouldn't have any troubles. And, if the tires were junk, Cooper wouldn't have their good reputation. I usually chalk up negative stories as anecdotal or driver/owner error.

    All the time!!!
I've got Cooper A/T3's on mine with right at 45k on them and never had any problems with them, and they still have good tread left on them. Only had one flat in 45k and it was a big nail. That what these will be replaced with when its time for new ones again.

Keep up with rotations every 5k, alignments as needed, correct pressure, and pick the rocks out of the tread, should not have issues. Who knows how your buddies ran them and took care of them.

I just let my ST MAxx run to 9k between rotations because I just had too much going on to get to it, and I could tell by the sound and the wear.

Cooper ST Maxx 255/85/16, love em. No issues with balancing and they are surprisingly quiet. Only issue I had with them was that my local Big O didn't have any in stock and had to order them.
