Stock tires arent junk really, they are just made for mostly highway driving , with a little offroad thrown in (gravel roads , easy terrain offroad) , .....made for some better mpg too. MT tires a crappy highway tires , ASR are crappy offroad tires.
On a 40k rated tire , just doing gravel roads 500 mi -750mi a year , 25k might actually be good , and that doesnt address any real offroading. Driving style and usage will the life expectancy .

I got approx 24000 out of my POS Dunlops on my 06 D-Cab Sport. You'd think with all the goodies that come on a TRD Sport model.... you would get higher performance tires.... eh? I'd figure a base truck with no A/C or radio with steelies would have Dunlops.

They should charge 1k less and not include tires. Then put on muds, all season, highway, etc. That way your truck spends its life with rubber that suits it's owners needs.

I got 45k on my stock dunlops but the outsides wore pretty fast compared to the rest of the tire. I ended up replacing them with a good bit of tread left.

Don't think of it as " I have to buy new tires ? "

Think of it as " Awesome , now I can get some decent tires and get rid of these peices of shit ! "

I just upgraded from my stock dunlops at 20k (just because I was sick of them), but they were still at half tread.

Quoting my own post because I just found a truck like mine in a Delaware parking lot having the exact same wear issues on the AT20's . Beginning to think it is just the way these crap tires wear on this model.

I agree with the softer rubber. Toyota puts OEM tires on that have the best ride quality, thus softer rubber. I had a 2009 Camry and changed the OEM tires out within a year. The difference was night and day. The OEM tires were quite and made the car ride like a boat. I changed them out for Goodyear TT's and got a more aggressive and sport ride.

On my 2006 that was totaled, I had 35k miles on the POS Dunlops and they had probably 10k to go. I think 23k is very low. I don't think there is much you can do at the dealer but it's worth a shot.
